You gotta sell value not price.  I can see why you might want to give concessions to an existing and loyal client, but to discount on new business is a slippery slope.  

If your business has an ROI for the client, it has the ROI regardless of good times or bad, and the client should pay a fair dollar.

discounts are given to new clients just to suck them in. once they have been sucked in, thats when you up sell them!

like going to a buffet for £5.95! dont assume thats all  you'll pay, cos you'll most likely be thirsty! £2.50 for a glass of coke! probably end up with 2 with the size of that glass

Ned, the fact I think paying US$100 for a bottle of good red when I eat out is reasonable, and you get personal satisfaction /value paying US$375 for a round at Pebble Beach is not the fundamental point raised by TheReviewer. Nor is paying US$100 to bang a chick at a US joint. There is no comparing US to Asia for quality unless you want to pay much more than that.

TheReviewer asked the forum if he is "being cheap" for complaining about paying the going rate for an Asian WG for an hour of fun when he boasts of earning a 6 figure "fat paycheck". I say yes he is being cheap.

of all people, i am surprised that you are surprised as to why bro reviewer has been getting nailed by the mods in the last week few days...  

just take a look back at what this guy has been writing (you are a very good investigator bro!)...

you know my stance on things around here...any and all members welcomed...and that includes him...

but somehow from the word go, all he has been doing is try to convey to us the superiority/inferiority measure...which i have no idea where that is coming from...especially coming here as a newbie, which says he is interested by something here in which he wishes to participate in...

but somehow, his actions have been extremely counter-productive, to the point that he has been pissing off many people...a number of the most senior mods stepped in first, then others (including myself), who have been more vigilant to try to to help him by explaining things a little more clearly and to slap him when necessary...as we haveseen fit...

we only know each other as anonymous members here but over time, we gain a certain respect and credibility among each other and the platform...somehow reviewer doesn't seem to comprehend this, for some bizarre reason...even to the point of rejection by ignoring what the mods and senior bros have told him...

its not that everyone were intolerant of him from the beginning but over time unfortunately, that seems to have become the case... hence you see that i joined in to let him know that if he acts like a wanker, we will treat him like one...

all this indignant behaviour results in consequences...whether he likes it or assumes i am in such and such a way...it really doesn't matter...because i have the trust of the mod board, with the responsibility to help out as a mod here, not him....end of story...

I'm not a mod so I don't approach these problems from the stand point of feeling called upon to regulate the forums. If you guys want to neg K him, that's your business. And no, I'm not familiar with his other posts/threads. I usually open a thread and if the subject doesn't interest me, I don't open it again. My comment was that given what he has written in this thread, I thought it surprising that people were penalizing him with so much neg k.

And there is a difference between negative feedback and negative karma. Personally, I prefer, and in fact enjoy, the verbal jousting with people I disagree with. But in spite of my thug rep with some of the guys I've crossed swords with, please note that I have never given English, sexpert, kruptionk or any of the others neg karma or even neg acceptance - not one point. In fact, the only guy I have given neg k is ButtFuckerBoy or whatever his name was, and that was with the express purpose of preventing him from accessing his own RA 30 thread.

I'm not being holier than thou here. I'm not criticizing anyone. For all I know the guy deserved it for his behavior in other threads. I'm just stating my personal preference as a non-mod.

For the record, I don't like TheReviewer's posts especially.  He's been rude, arrogant and disrespectful to a number of people who don't deserve such treatment especially not from someone who has made no previous contribution.  

You are allowed not to like the guy, it's OK at a personal level.  But as a mod you represent a higher standard - you speak for all the members, not just for yourself.  If you want the forum to grow and be active, give newbies a chance before you nuke them.  Tell them what they're doing that you don't like FIRST.  PM.  Post.  Then see if they get it or not before escalating.  Escalate progressively.  

I think he's very inconsiderate of others, but his approach looks to me more like a clumsy effort to create a storm than a deliberately ill-intentioned attack.  It's almost like he watched Gary's rise through the ranks and wants to do the same - lacking Gary's finesse and respectfulness.  I also think this sort of emotional reaction is precisely the reason why Acceptance was implemented and why Lords and Kings were denied the right to give neg K.  

I appreciate the details you gave me in response to my post.  You gave useful insight into your reasoning, and gives him (and other lurkers) an idea of what the mods of this forum appreciate and what they don't appreciate.  That's a damn sight more appropriate than simply hammering him because you "don't like him" or worse because he "might commit" some sort of offense against an unstated law.  

Please tell him what you didn't like, and what you want him to do instead.  Oh and give him back most of the K to see if he changes.  

Like Mars I'm not a Mod.  I think you guys mostly do a great job and deserve much more appreciation than criticism.  I hope you can take my feedback as constructively as it is intended.

I did see his other posts and he definitely did deserve being put on probation - but like you I feel the public way he's been treated looks like an overreaction.

Maybe the Mods discussed him at their level of RA?  Don't know.  Can't tell.  

Recently the record of moderation here has been outstanding for what is effectively an unrestricted public forum staffed solely by volunteers.  It took me ages to find the history of the "Mod Wars", there's been nothing like it for a long time, and I'm glad of that.  

IMHO more transparency would be valuable  

AND WOULD ATTRACT MORE HIGH-QUALITY PARTICIPATION.
