Hi aaa888;
Have you been to Bangkok or do you know the exchange rates for the Thai Baht? I think - I am guessing what l3ngtjai means is, if you have about USD30K+ and you exchange it into Baht, you will have more than a Million Baht. That would make you a millionair in Thailand wouldn't it? Perhaps he is talking about the cost of general things like food, drinks and transport. A 2 bedroom studio apartment about 600 square feet is sold at USD38,000.00 to USD40,000.00 (Area: Sathon/Chao Phyra River near Silom). I was there 2 weeks ago and my Thai friend just snap this apartment.
A bowl of rice noodle soup with all the garnishes will set you back a mere 25-30 Baht. In a reasonable good restaurant in Chinatown (Yaowaraj) - Sharkfin Soup for a small pot is about 300 - 600 Baht (2-4 serving) Chinese rice bowl quantity. A Hot Dog in a 7-11 store is 20 Baht. A bottle of Johnnie Walker Black is 1,200 Baht in Hollywood Discotheque. In Bed Superclub, Black Label will cost a little more. The flag down price for a cab is only 35 Baht and it will travel about 1.2 Kilometers before it changes to 38 Baht. In my opinion, I think most people in this forum can afford the relatively low cost of living in Bangkok.
Don't get me started for the rates in Apartment Rentals, compare to Hong Kong, Singapore & Shanghai, the house/flats and apartment are at dirt cheap prices. I can go on but I need to pack my bags for my flight.
1 HKD = 4.3 Baht or 1 Baht = HKD0.2275 (For Example: 1,000,000.00 Baht = HKD227,500.00)
