Ok I'll fill in some details


Airline was Tiger Airways (DG airlines, SE Air) yes it's very complicated.  But for 740hkd round trip direct to Clark most of the time is pretty hard to beat!

I would have gotten my money back regardless. I was on the phone with my credit card company as soon as I heard theflightwas delayed. I have delayed trip and cancelled trip insurance.  So the earlier I inform the CCcompany the faster things go.

Anyway, as for the mainland transport...

The girls tried to tell me that one way transport on the group limousine costs 500hkd.  I laughed and said no I want the 200hkd transport direct to  changping.  I even provided them with my original ticket TO the airport.
Some poorly translated phrases on both sides and they still trying to charge me 500 for something that should be 200 (175 if you go round trip, 170 if you book from Ken in Miraton Go Fly). When they wouldn't relent on the price I asked for their employeeIDs so I could confirm with their supervisor.  They responded to this request by saying that if I wanted their employee IDs that I would have to go a police officer.   As they had previously informed me that it would be 50 minutes to the next car so I went ahead and followed up with their request of finding a police officer.  

The police officer also included some manager from the aviation authority or something.  Not entirely sure what the other persons position was.  Anyway, complaints werefiled and after some explanations on both sides ( surely the girls telling some story about errors in translation rather than actually admitting anything.

Nothing serious.  Just the same ole.  Can't wait to for vacation!

about the 740HK$ round trip, is that all in price inclusive of airport tax and travel tax?
Here in the Phil, when i book a trip online, i still have to pay 1620 pesos and another 750 pesos at the airport.
Those are called travel tax and airport tax. i wonder if it also applies in other countries.

You still have to pay the Clark airport leaving tax of 750pesos (I heard it was being decreased)

The HKIA tax is included with the ticket.  However, if you are not careful they will charge you extra for "board me first" which doesn't work at HKIA.  They will charge you extra for a flexible ticket (normally three times the cost of a regular ticket ) and they will charge you for any luggage (140hkd or so). So if you don't read and click throughas fast as possible a flight that should cost 740hkd round trip, starts costing 1800hkd!

Their customer service is awful. You check in at one terminal and fly out of the other.it's managed by SATS at HKIA.  So they can barely assist you with anything.  Discount airfare.

However, when it works it works.  With their schedule, their evening flight gets you into your bar of choice in Angeles after checking into your hotel by 12:30

The difference in fare from my scheduled Sunday departure (420hkd after tax) and the next flight on Monday (2100hkd after tax) was ridiculous.

So check the website for good deals.  Their frequent flyer program costs money and their special offers have never been worth more than the cost of the program for me!

Just checked prices again to make sure I wasn't taking crazy pills!  For a trip I am thinking about in end of February I got 241hkd +120 hkd HKIA tax to Clark.  For return I got 271hkd (+750pesos exit).  Haven't booked it because on clue if schedule will work out yet.  But price is available

I have automatic trip delay and trip cancellation insurance.  As I am registered to be living in the US and my trip here in Hong Kong was cancelled, my CC company reimburses expenditures for food and lodging up to 300USD for a 12hr delay and a much higher amount for a cancelled trip.  I have to speak with them again about the specifics cancelled trip as myprevious discussion was based on a delayed trip

Agree totally that it's never  good idea to be confrontational with ANY personnel with any kind of authority - whether it be Immigration, Customs, Police or even - and especially - stupid Private Security Guards In China.

Unfortunately, private security companies/estates etc in the PRC are quite notorious in employing total idiots who are cheap to employ, quite unquestioning when told to do anything by supervisors/employers and too stupid to understand that what they had been told to do is sometimes ill-advised to actually perform. This is why we hear time and again these security guards beating up people and even killing some.

and I gotta say wander - you REALLY must be lucky as a person!  I cannot imagine being let-off in either of the 2 scenarios you found yourself in.

Wow! So, your credit card company actually compensated you NOT only for the cost of the air-ticket (Hk$740) but also for your other ancillary costs??  To the tune of US$3,000??!!  WOW!  How does that work and which credit card/insurance is this that you got?

What are some of the"rules" you gotta follow to be entitled to receive such recompense? I mean, if the flight was just delayed say a few hours, I cannot imagine that you'd be getting such compensation etc. - no?

I think that there's not only Tiger and Cebu Pacific that's competing on the lucrative Hong Kong/PI run that used to be dominated by the major airlines like Cathay Pacific and Philippine Airlines - right?  

And when buying these air tickets these days, the TOTAL price including all the fuel surcharges, airport tax should be fully taken into account when comparing prices.  So much more complicated these days with all these variations and different rules, bells, whistles, charges etc in each airline/travel agent website.

Presidential Plus card
Chase - MasterCard.  Tied in with my old continental frequent flyer program.  If flight is delayed for more than 12 hours I get delayed trip insurance.  Covers "reasonable" food and lodging expenses.  If the flight gets cancelled, there's another list of recompense. But I don't have it on me at the moment.  

I looked at it this way, I'll get what I normally get.   If they do reimburse me.  Awesome.  If not, oh well.   They were pretty cool about helping me out.  

The reason I get my ticket covered is because the flight was cancelled and tiger airways was trying to dick me around.  So I said if tiger won't refund the ticket, my CC will. So I called and they did.  It definitely was not worth the hassle and I would have much rather been getting a bj from some cute bar girl for 1200 pesos overnight then arguing on the phone with someone over 740hkd (this flight was more as it included my Clark to BkK trip too)

The reason why i got to visit HK for the first time last Sept, was my officemate got to claim a reward round trip ticket to HK via Cathy Pacific thru the use of his HSBC credit card.
He didnt wana use it so he sold the round trip ticket to me for only 4.5k pesos (a little over 800 HK$).
At the NAIA terminal 1, i still paid the 750 pesos airport tax that time.

My second trip to Macau/HK last Dec, i booked it online via Cebu Pacific for only 888 pesos one way so (round trip would be 1776 pesos plus 160 web admin fee, plus 500 pesos for baggage, taxes and fee 1451.85) and the flight is directly from Manila to Macau and vice versa.
At the NAIA terminal 3 i still paid 1620 pesos and the 750 pesos so my total cost for that trip was 6257.86 pesos (1120 HK$)

I read a news few months ago about there are bunch of clone idols over China. Companies hired them to attend their events held at CNY. You may see a clone Michael Jackson in china someday, LOL

I think these could all be various persona's of SEAJ manifesting themselves.
