Since you guys seem to be talking about the big M. Ok let me make my way into here by adding a comment on the big M fastfood enterprise. In Australia, M advertised itself as a 'family restaurant'. Then one day I persoanlly heard on the radio (in Australia) that some audience rang up a radio talk show and condemned this remark by big M.

He said M was only as good as some tuck shop in a gasoline station, nowhere near any restaurant. He was really furious about it. The talk show host had a laid back sort of attitude and said something like " ......ok ........ok ......thanks for calling......bye".

oh those pricey burgers...u know what drives me nuts? when some place bigs up their "Wagyu beef burgers" and u order it medium rare and they say, oh no sir, u have to have it WELL DONE.

you're advertising premium beef at a premium price and you insist on BURNING IT?! you don't trust what, exactly? my taste? your chefs? your quality control?

as Anthony Bourdain wrote in his most recent book: "I want my burger medium...fucking...RARE."

Most hotels in Southern China don't have heat for the winter.  I have been to a few hotels where the water in slightly warm and there is no heat in the rooms during the winters.  It's not fun being COLD with any girls.  I'm looking for a hotel this time around with some heat in CP.  I was told the even the Miraton doesn't have heat in the rooms.

And about your question - yup - you're probably gonna be out of luck with heaters in the room - but NO PROBLEMO!!  Just go to Gome or even those li'l hardware stores around the walking street and you should be able to pick up a space heater for around RMB 100.

On the other hand, you may luck out and if so, hopefully you can get one from the hotel to borrow.  I know that the hotels do have some space heaters avaialble to lend out to guests.

Turn on the charm, flirt with the receptionists a bit - and you'll get your space heater!! And maybe even a date???

Fuck, I just checked and its 140 usd for a 30 day china tourist visa now??  Thats crazy, a couple years ago it was just 50 bucks.  About 3 months back it was around 100 i think.. now 140?  Getting a bit greedy are we China?  I know its all political, but its a bit lame.  

Yes, it is expensive to get a U.S. visa for a Chinese, but its a FIRST world country with FIRST world amenities, professioinalism and freedoms.  If you were ever in an emergency situation and you needed some sort of paramedics or police to help you out, you sure as hell wouldn't wanna be in China if that situation ever goes down.  That type of confidence with China has not quite been instilled in me just yet.  

It's amusing how much China wishes it was America ( during its favorable times ), all the while pretending otherwise.

WTF....  I hold a British passport......Well think of it this way......

RICO AIN'T GOING DITCH THE UK FOR CHINA.....

If you visit China often, the 130 USD multi-entry USA tourist visa is better.  The multi-entry is good for 1 yr and in and out as many times as you like. For the previous 50 USD visa was good for only 1 visit usually for only 30 days.  

For other countries it is much different with prices and length of time. The USA and China have been playing with politics.

My mother was originally from Guangzhou. She told me that when she was young, she got hurt and went to the hospital for emergencies. The hospital staff would pressure her to present some cash, jewelery, or some sort of collateral for services before the doctor would even see her. To this day she still complains of the jade bracelet the hospital staff kept even after her medical bills were paid....

So, are you implying that a hospital in GZ will today still take your watch or jewelry item  as collateral before they attend to your medical emergency? I've certainly never experienced this.

If that is your line of thinking, I suggest you save your money and not pay for a visa to China. Go punting in the US if you find the visa too expensive.Maybe the older gals in those Nevada brothels is more your speed.

There are many countries that do no require any visa when visiting China, including Singapore and Japan to name a couple.
