@ SEAJ...I read the story and I think Ennis del Mar and the great love that he tried to have that he'll never know about. Ennis was wired to like guys...Chochet was wired to like WGs; both were into different types of forbidden fruit. Love Story was a little too schmaltzy for me...Brokeback is much more contemporary. And yes, I'm with author Annie Proulx, they got robbed at the Oscars. The film that did win, Crash, a 2:30 PC lecture on race relations in the US was probably the worst movie of all time to win Best Picture. Crash is a solid two star film. (I saw both).

I don't know if you ever saw Brokeback, if you did you might see it from my POV.

@JTB (and others), nice to know the HK laws, but what is the real penal liability here? I mean, prostitution is explicitly forbidden by Thai law, but the girl biz has been monolithic in TH since, well, long before it was called Thailand.

IMHO and AT PRESENT, Hong Kong laws still reflects the English Common laws where prostitution per se is NOT illegal.  It is only the nefarious going-ons surrounding such activity that the laws are direectd against i.e. pimping, soliciting, controlling prostitutes, trafficking, immoral enterprise etc.

And as far as the monger is concerned the present state of play is that not much will happen to him if caught - although this had not always been the case for I remember a decade or 2 back, that there was a concerted effort by the LE to apply the "name and shame" tactic - where if you get caught, they'd phone the relative to bail him out etc - with all the surrounding publicity that such was the tactic.  But I guess this tactic had not really worked and I BELIEVE that the Hong Kong LE is now just applying "containment" as a policy on controlling the trade i.e. one eye open one eye shut for certain areas of Hong Kong - just so long as they don't cause too much problems/crime/nuisance etc.

Just IMHO and only the present state of play I must again stress - and if this topic really interests you, (or anybody else also interested), you should go through that ZiTeng website as it probably is a more authoritative and accurate depiction......and perhaps share with us what you all find out after reading it if you don't mind??

I am going away to Pattaya this weekend with some friends. They are all going on holiday and my trip is work/holiday!

We are playing golf but we also have 1/2 days spare here too. We are hiring a yacht for the day and filling it full of beer and girls!

But what shall we do with our other spare day?

I was actually shocked at how cheap the yacht was...

There is 9 of us (and most likely 9 women)

Beer + Food ALL DAY

= 5000 Baht each!

For 10 hours of pure debauchery!

Normally it is 50,000 Baht for the boat but he gave us a discount (do not know what for as a friend booked it).

My apologies - it is 6,500 including food and drinks!

So the boat rental was THB 45,000? (9x5K)?  I guess its reasonable at US$1,500 for 10 hours.

Just make sure that you guys don't get charged too much for a lot of things they sprung on me when I JOINED at 4 hour snorkeling trip in Phuket last month. I think 40 of us packed into that old and dilapidated "yacht" at THB 1,300/pax - and most of the time they just discharged us on a beach - where I got charged THB 80 as soon as my bottom hit a sun-deck chair which was liberally placed around the beach.  Then some more to rent flippers which they warn we should wear to avoid injuries around the rocks etc!

Then before we came back to port in Puket, they actually had the nerve to pass the hat around to solicit tips!!  LOL!

Specific to your question, MOST HG's are NOT Local Hong Kong girls - either PRC or other nationalities. WG's are for the most part Hong Kong identity card holders - but of course some of them originally came from the PRC.

On the other hand - what does it matter to you?? You state that your language is only English and Filipino- so what does it matter to you?

When you rate a post, you can add a comment. But if the comment is too long, then other people couldn't read the whole message, it is cut after 40 characters ??? The OP can read the comment in his mailbox, but how can others do ? Did I miss something ?

Anyway, The comment field accompanying your rating will only show up in public to I think 65 or 70 (NOT 40 only) characters; but you can write as much as you want as a Private message to the OP who you've rated, and he will get the complete message (but of course only with the first 65-70 characters showing up publicly)

If you want to let others see everything (publicly) that you write (beyond 65-70 characters), then you should just put up a reply post.

65-70 characters is usually enough to write "one-liners" - something which used to be endemic AND generally detested - and this increase in the # of characters to now being 65-70 (i/o the previous 40) have largely eliminated these one-liners.
