I don't know if HK people in general just like to mind their own business, because I definitely dont think its right for them to be drinking beers on the MTR.  I wanted to say something but they may get offensive, and break a beer bottle on my head like Young and Dangerous!...

I have to admit I did my share of bad stuff in HK.  One time I was so drunk in TST and needed to take a piss,  but searching everywhere I could not find a bathroom.  At one point I  just couldn't take it anymore it so I found a brick wall at the bottom of the property and let it out there.   The night guard saw me and started walking towards me with his flashlight.  He saw what I did but didn't say anything so I just walked off  .... Lucky me that he did not report me to the police....

Yeah I don't recommend making a scene, especially with you being outnumbered. Some of the girls can be quite bitchy!

As for the guards, even if they report to the police, a 10-20 dollars would buy them off. These guys are making the HK minimum so any tip would be well received.

Hey, any of you local guys recommend any bars in TST?  Not there to monger but maybe a "female boxer" /bar girl who I can play dice with for a whole night and won't jump from table to table? I went to a few, and they all want me to order expensive liquor and they always leave me hanging  jumping from table to table... I dont really like that    They also want you to book their tables ahead of time... Do they get more commission from that?    They also frown upon if you go there during happy hour to order cheap beer...

Man I think it works the same way in CP.  You gotta run up to the KTV get a Mommies business card, run  back down outside then book a room with them, otherwise theres noone gonna entertain you!

Thats a good question as I've never been able to figure it out myself.  Perhaps a good topic to start a separate thread on?

On your observation about CP ktv's - I think I've read somewhere else that you prefer/go to KTV's by yourself. Well, especially on week-ends, KTV rooms are at a premium and is the source for mommies/managers/even KDJ's to make their minimum room spend for the number of rooms they get "allocated." The higher room spend they manage in a month, the higher number of rooms they get AND get quota/commission on for the next month.

Thus you by yourself is NOT something these KTV staff really like to entertain - for as you know, even the smallest room of most KTV's can easily accomodate 4 or even 6 guys if they only have 1 gal each.

They'd parcel out their allocated rooms to known MULTIPLE GUY spenders.  Just what I think I know

I'd say that this keeping to oneself is typical behaviour of most large metropolitan areas and not just limited to Hong Kong.  People got better things to do than act chivalrious or mind other peoples' business - for they all know - like you said, they can easily get their head bashed in for their efforts.

Also, I'd say that people in Hong Kong are more trained to avoid/acutely aware of the problems that interferin' can bring upon oneself.

Compared to say Singapore, where everything is quite orderly, I actually see a whole lot more fights breaking out in bars and night venues in Singapore.  MY theory for this is that there really is not that much sinister going on in Singapore - and thus a bar fight just gets limited to a bar fight - and not 100 guys coming at you all at once with choppers and meat cleavers.

We in Hong Kong don't live in the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave - we just survive and go on with our own lives.

If I may impose on some of you knowledgeable bros -  what are the specifics regarding travel by a PRC national to Thailand?

1. Is it true that PRC nationals with a valid passport can just board a plane from China, land in Thailand and get a visa upon arrival?  
2. How long a stay in Thailand will this PRC national get with this type of visa?
3. How about if the PRC national need to go via Hong Kong (cheaper ticket price) instead of just leaving directly from China to Thailand?  Is it true that if the PRC natiional holds a valid onward air ticket, Hong Kong immigration will grant a visa to land in Hong Kong to then board the plane to Thailand?
4. Or does the PRC national then need to PRE-apply for a Thai entry visa first?

Any information etc - especially from bros who has traveled to Thailand with a PRC national - will be much appreciated!

SEAJ, I need your help!  My flights are all fucked, they are putting me into HKG LANDING at 10:25 pm.  I hear the last bus to CP goes out at 10:00

How do I get to CP with 3 big suitcases with as little hassle as possible?

JustSeven. At that time of night, the best bet may be to hire the van at around HKD1500 a trip that will bring you directly to the destination in CP.

SEAJ ... you're not thinking of bringing a PRC WG with you to the land of a million WG's, are you?? I've seen in BKK airport that there's the last minute visas, with China emblazoned as one of the countries that can get the last minute visa. I don't know if they need any information filled in beforehand, but if they did need it, then it's not really a last minute visa process then, is it?

I think your best bet at that time of the night - with all that luggage - is to get a Van service to cross over Huanggang (the one where you do NOT need to get off the van/it takes you right across both borders/make sure first at the counter!!) and have BS Dave arrange for his driver to pick you up there.

This should be a lot cheaper than $1,500 with the Huanggang pick-up not costing over RMB 300.

What about if the onward air ticket is an Electronic Ticket ?  You don't have a boarding pass. You pick up your boarder pass at the airport.  Will a computer printout do ?

The CP night market has changed locations again!  It is back to its 2nd former location (No longer at the Manhattan Service Apartments floor 10) it is not across the street on the 3rd floor of the hotel (where it was previously but no its old old location.

My last week in HK, I still havent decided who, when, where to punt. Or if I ever punt, how much I put into my budget. I also didn't made my quota to upgrade my reading access for me to have better basis. ;) (haha as if I will get from 120+ to 250 in 4 weeks.) Not much action to report.

I was about to step out to LKF for some drinking with buds until my SO called to tell me that it would be better for me to stay home this weekend as this is the hungry ghosts will be out tonight to steal someone's body.

That is why I am home on a Friday night surfing this site.

There are stories of the Manhattan Apt Building on Swan Lake being haunted.     It's not a safe place. I have heard rumors a few girls were killed there.  One girl was tossed over from a top floor. On some days, late at night you would hear girls screaming.   

LOL. I hear girls screaming in CP all the time ...

Speaking of which, someone ought to start teaching girls how to moan ... it's disturbing to think most of the sauna girls are picking up the Japanese pornstar style, when I'm much more for the American PSE.
