I am thinking of traveling to hong kong for a week, I only speak english and am American. Should I be worried about being there by myself. I will be staying in a hostel and am not sure if I should even book my flight. Everyone I am talking to has me worried about this! Thanks for the help.

imho, hk is safer than nearly every major city in the us (btw, i am from the us).  that said, you can be in the wrong place at the wrong time (2-5 am), but those places here are so blatantly obvious....... the only thing to really worry about is a spiked drink at the wrong time and then "losing" you wallet. english is widely spoken here that you can meet some honeys easily

As a matter of fact you might find beijing is  more inconvenient as many sign is in chinese but in HK everything has english translation. just come.

Here's a couple of more things you should worry yourself about:  is it safe for me to breathe the air in HK, is it safe for me to eat the shit down there, will the slanty-eyed pig-tailed rickshaw boys understand where I want to go?

I'm 25 and I'll be traveling there shortly. With another friend though. The only thing I'd really worry about is pickpockets. (Who are available in every major city in the world.) We're totally excited about the trip though. Gonna be the best. You should definitely make the trip.

Don't listen to these guys bro! HK is one dangerous place! Those sneaky Chinese cannot be trusted. I was talking to a guy who works in the US Embassy here - it seems every day some young American wakes up in a Mongkok alley missing a kidney! The International Red Cross just rescued a whole group of American college students from a factory in Causeway Bay where they were used as slave labor to make bricks! The poor kids got into a tour bus at the airport, were drugged and taken straight to the factory.

American students came to Hong Kong to work in the brick factory as a summer job. But you're right - most of the WGs
in Hong Kong are kidnapped. But so what? They're still a good fuck.

Losing a kidney is NOT some minor inconvenience bro! Nature gave you two for a reason. Having only one can cause high blood pressure, increased nighttime urination, incomplete purification of the blood, etc. But the biggest problem with all the tourists losing kidneys here in HK is the way the operation is done. It's not like the assholes doing the cutting are trained surgeons, all they care about is getting the fucking thing out of your back. My  friend from the embassy says the Queen Mary Hospital has even had to set up a special ward to handle all the botched operations.

Of course the locals say the college kids were here voluntarily, but give me a break! Who the fuck is going volunteer to work in a brick factory in the HK summer heat? Did you see the pictures in the South China Morning Post? Some of those kids looked like they had spent a year in Auschwitz!
