best ride ever

Here I am talking about racehorses.....
Which do you regard as the greatest of all time? I am torn between Secretariat and current Australian sprinter who has won all her 24 races to date (including 14 group 1 wins) without the use of the whip. Absolutely freak.  She won Royal Ascot last year and will probably end her career there undefeated. Which horse gets your nod?

Red Rum was a good horse, though I prefer the flat track.

Referring to Black Caviar?

To this day, I still like Octagonal.  Won me plenty of money, even though he was short priced favourite.

I forgot to mention the name haha... Yeah, of course, Black Caviar, the one and only. His second lastrace was renamed in his honour "Black Caviar Lightning Stakes" - the only race in living memory to be named after a horse that it is competing.  You can't make money on him however, as his odds are about 1/10 every time he rides.
Octagonal was a brilliant horse, so too Kingston Town and Better Loosen Up.

I would vote Fairy King Prawn because of the bad ass name.

Anyone here have a betting system for HK horses?

The list is tough...there's Phar Lap, Cigar, Black Caviar, Silent Witness, Secretariat, Shergar, Frankel to name but a few.

If I were to choose one from that list, and it's hard, I would go for Frankel. No one got close to him and he looked like he would only get better if he stepped it up further in distance.

Maybe the best ever is yet to come if they mate Frankel with Black Caviar...

Funny how Frankel and Black Caviar already share blood - Northern Dancer. When BC went over to England, racing officials were trying to organise a race between Frankel  (14-0-0) and Black Caviar (24-0-0) at a distance that not favour one horse over the other - how they would manage that I am not sure. If the two horses mate, it will be interesting what type of horse is produced.

Makybe Diva lacked consistency but rose for the biggest races (3 Melbourne cups in a row) which marks a great champion.  Man O War was a legendary racehorse though I havent seen footage.

Haha... True that.
Black Caviar's half brother All Too Hard has an estimated stud value of AUD25million according to one paper. What a funny name given his future privileged life in the paddock.

A recent great ride has got to be the Mongolian Philly I had last time in HK... but then again, I thought that's what you were talking about before clicking on your thread TD... what a shock you are talking about horses!!! You've been away from HK too long...

Only one type in hk, and only the other type occasionally since I left hk. The TAB is right next door to the gym I go to every day, so a slight distraction.

A buyer just paid AUD5million for Black Caviar's half brother at auction, considerably higher than the $200,000 paid for BC. The highest priced now for the southern hemisphere. I figure they will put him to stud without having a race to avoid him breaking down.
