It seems all political. I think Zhang Ziyi probably got aligned with Bo XiLai's Conservative Maoist wing of the communist party and now the central government that believes in moderate free-market development with authoritarian oversight stategy (breaking away from Maoist Cultural revolutionary ideas) is being threatened by Bo Xi Lai's loyalist wing. So they are punishing Zhang ZiYi for her loyalty to Bo Xi Lai. Or....perhaps she had sold her body to the highest bidder, which was Bo Xi Lai and pissed off someone in the central Politburo guy who also wanted a piece of her ass in bed but was denied that chance and is now seeking revenge.

This type of political purging and defamation happens quite frequently within China.  When Hu Jin Tao took over, Jiang Ze Min still had many loyalist in his Shanghai faction. As a result, Hu Jin Tao purged the Shanghai Gang of 4 out of the communist party so that he could solidify power for himself. If they still remained then there would be a power struggle issue. He spent quite some time in purging those Jiang Ze Min Loyalists, defaming them and accusing them of graft and bribery. Hu Jin Tao learned of Jiang Ze Min's deceitful ways, when he rose to power by pushing down his predecessor Zhao Zi Liang back during the Tienanmen Square protests.

So it's the whole: if you aren't with us, then you are against us mindset. This will blow over once all of Bo Xi Lai's loyalists are purged from the communist party.

Too bad Zhang Zi Yi got caught in between all of this cross fire.
