Free app to hide photos on your phone

I went over a free Android app that allows you to hide photos and videos on your Android phone : Hide it pro

How does it work ? Tutorial from the developer :

The moment you launch the app you’ll be presented with a screen similar to the one below. Wtf ?? i did not want an Audio Manager app. What the heck is this. Well this is just a disguise to hide the app itself.

To go to the Actual hide it pro. Long Press on the Audio Manager Icon to access the actual Hide It Pro. btw this Audio Manager is full functional. You can change all the volumes from here directly.

Long press on the title to go to the lock screen. Here you enter you pin/password to login

Then, from next screen you can browse all files in your images/videos gallery, and chose the one you want to move to this secret app.

Warning : The photos are just moved from the public gallery to the locked folder, it means the files can still be viewed when the phone is connected to your computer. But at least, if your SO plays with your phone, she'll just think it's a audio manager app

It is actually possible to hide pictures without any applications on your blackberry. Details are here:

http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.c ... ;externalId=KB18466

Although it can't be locked that way. There is another application which does the work:

https://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/43000

But the review seems bad and we have to pay for it

did you try the encryption function?

Can you encrypt the locked folder, for double protection, or would that make the pictures unreadable?

I have a Crackberry Bold 9900 and an Iphone 4 (iPhone 4S on the way). The iPhone 4 is much better. I use Private Photo Privacy Pro on the iPhone 4 and it works great as you need a password in order for you to be able to open application to view photos

But with your Private Photo Privacy Pro, you lock ALL the photos. And it would be very suspicious (and not acceptable) not to let your SO access your photos. Imagine she takes your phone to pay with it (ie check your sms, calls and photos), wouldn't she be shocked to see you blocked your photo gallery ?

With my app, she has access to photos like normal, just to hided some photos you selected.

for blackberry,  use the file manager, open the photo, open menu, select properties,  checkbox at bottom left "hidden".

Not sure if that one is on the Appstore anymore, as I cant find it

I'm using 'Spy Calc', which is a free app and rated 4.5/5 - seems pretty good so far

Agreed

Look out for "STF"

It has a dual-password system.  One password and you see one set of files you put there, or use the other password and see the stuff you don't want to share.  More effective if you get asked "what's that app for?".

Hold on...

isn't having any of these app on your phone automatically indict you as trying to hide something from your so...is there any app to hide the "privacy" app itself?

I still think the best solution is to seperate punting phone from regular phone and hide the punting phone itself. You can still install all the privacy app on the punting phone, just in case.

PS: Hide it Pro disguises itself...come-on....is it really that hard to figure out? some of those so's know more about the software than us punters, let's face it.

Strange, can't find it either. It got it the other day as it was listed as a free app. Found a similar app called dot lock privacy, this one handles videos as well. Many apps around actually once you start looking for it.

I've got so many apps on the phone, it doesn't really stand out anymore. Also you canalways say you downloaded it because it was free and you have not even actually used it yet. But i agree that if your SO is familiar with computers there is more risk.

A punting phone is more difficult to hide than an app i would think. She does clean the house, doesn't she? It's easier to forget to hide it and leave it in your pocket.

Hiding photos? That's so dangerous!  Here is what I do.

Install Drop Box or something similar. Once you have got your pics upload them and delete them from your phone. After this you can access them anywhere if you can get a Internet connection. If not just favorite the pics and they will be saved on your phone for offline review. I find having hidden pics or some kind of program that locks them is way too suspicious. Especially if your SO or whomever you are trying to hide them from is tech savvy.

If you sync your dropbox with your computer remember to have some dummy folders and make sure you make the sensitive ones "hidden" and make sure your system is set to "hide hidden files or folders".

Even Apple's current CEO once said that Android would totally dominate the market in 2-3 years. It seems it is already happening.

You got a link to that article?

Why would Tim Cook say "Android will dominate the market in 2-3years"? I would be shocked if that's actually true.

WhoreMonger: Everything cost fucking money on Apple. Hell, Angry Birds was like $3 etc etc list goes on
