Hey bros... thought, I'd do a bit of research on the forum and its awesome members.

Of the nearly 75000+ registered members, I'd say about 300-400 are bots, not real ppl. Of the rest about 50-60% have identified themselves as male. Leaving the rest as either unsure, not wanting to display or maybe of another gender??

I did a further search on "female members" and no results showed up. So, I was wondering could there be any real female members on this forum? Even though the UID is numeric and member handle is anonymous, hardly have I seen any female participation or POV or anything else for that matter... maybe some of the seniors have??... so just wondering?

Any ideas?

Just like any other board on the Internet, just assume that whoever is posting is male and college aged when they don't disclose anything. There are no magical lesbian 141 members... actually there might have been a bisexual one, but that conversation got really weird really fast and I still have my doubts.

You can look at the member's list and click on "gender" at the bottom and you will see 23-3/4 pages of Females listed - each page 25 - thus there's approx 590 female members here - or at least members claiming they are female out of a total of 74370 members. So its a lot higher than 50-60% you wrote - in fact its over 99% males here.

And yes, we've had a few supposed females chatting with us here - they don't last long though.

What I worry about - and I betcha lots of other members here too - is of course SO's/GF's of members knowing that her guy is a member/posting here would then also sign on just to see what all he's up to.

We've also had instances of that - and let me tell you - it ain't pretty when it happens.

Your questions are not idiotic at all.

Bots originated in the Internet Relay Chat world, where they were good scripts that automated much of the mundane.  For example welcoming new members, providing certain information, can be automated.

Think of the Acceptance rating you often give when someone spams a one-liner.  That could be automated with a bot.  Doing that over and over again is a pretty mundane action, although very beneficial to the board.

Of course bots can be bad as well, particularly when they are hidden.  Someone could create an account and manually nurse it past the Nookie Newbie level and then run a bot on it that would always give then karma whenever they post.  

Most boards (and I assume this is one of them) do not allow bots.  Most IRC chat rooms that allow bots require that they be identified as bots.

I thought you you knew what you were talking about and did raise a valid question, that's why I LOL'ed at your sarcasm which I thought, cause I personally think bots will not work in this forum environment.

Most likely not since most of the WGs we play around with are from the PRC, hence they don't read English. But in the Chinese 141 forum, yes quite a few do browse it. I once knew a WG who asked me to write something good about her, because she suspected another WG posing as a customer was writing bad reviews about her and needed me to counter it with something positive.

You have asked some valid Qs... and the side take out on the whole 'doofus' / 'human bot' and 'ironic' angle is making me LOL. You are guys are the best... I have to certainly meet up with you and any of the bros who are game, when I do make it to HK (that is, if you all are ok with meeting a newbie).

Coming to the Qs:

On your supposition that there are "bots" here - you really think that?
A: My supposition of bots being there was made when I ranked the member list by Credits. At the bottom end, almost 20 pages or more (I gave up after a point and moved up in giant leaps, rather than page by page movement), I found that there are multitudes of 'members' with negative credit ratings. And my presumption was that for bros like you to have given negative point(s), it had to be spammers, not necessarily of the human variety. Bots on a site like this would be to induce members to notice links (usually) to their sites, which in turn if clicked means traffic and income for webmasters of these sites and the bot makers.

What can these bots do with the RA requirements on pictures here?
A: The RA requirements are not unbreakable. The RA is just a sort of limiter, which means somewhere in the code that is programmed, there are parameters stating if RA=30, allow pic data send from server to client, else show only file name, and so on.... A smart coder can break this, using a bot (I think bro Yazoo touched upon this).

I don't see any form of security on this site, other than rudimentary stuff. Of course, this is not a bank website, where you need to access your funds securely, so it is fine. And most of the newbies, like me, I guess are simply satisfied progressing up the 'chain' at our own pace, rather than try to break in and that too, for what? to see some real pics??? LOL. The reports are the most interesting and knowledge increasing portions, which newbies anyway get access to. Visual stimulation is what one needs to wait till RA30 is assigned. Patience never killed anybody... as far as I know, it's the other way round!

The other thing, and most commonly practised is, that bots attempt to do is to gain access to your email id. Most of us have created a separate email id for accessing this forum and other stuff of similar nature. Have you noticed if there are many unasked for mails coming to your in box? maybe to do with other sex sites? or sex toys? or other opportunities to engage in or profit from sex related arenas? If so, chances are a bot or two or three have secured your email id, and that id now is part of some spammer's db which is periodically being used to send out mailers. Many bros even click through a mail that looks interesting, on to their site, maybe even purchase something... somebody somewhere makes $$$.

Then, there are other spammers who are more evil, who tag along a small code with the mail, which once it enters your machine (if you do not use a computer condom... lol... i mean antivirus software), without your knowledge can set up a 'port' to be an open channel to their server, which in turn is used to send in bots who then sit on your machine, reading keystrokes (usually passwords), credit card info, etc. which can then be used by them to take money away from you, in many ways.

The last sort are the completely evil ass holes, who's only objective is to infiltrate your machine and cause it to crash, destroying your data. Why? just because they can. Sick fellows these chaps are... So, not trying to make any of you paranoid here, but these are the possibilities.

Also, bro SEAJ as you mentioned... for all those of you, who do have SO/GFs who may be lurking around this place... it is a bit scary/sad and my humble hope for all such bros to not be caught in the act of mongering... but as to being caught on the site... unless you are total digital immigrant (someone who is just started using computers) and your SO/GF is a nerd, chances are... if you are discrete enough they are not going to get to know about your peccadilloes and story sharing in this place. Isn't it?

It was interesting to note bros zeroz' and superfish168's post about WGs checking out reviews about them by their 'client' or 'opposition WG'. It is a good angle, and a distinct possibility especially if WG/HG are coming in from outside, do know English and have been 'enlightened' about the presence of this forum and its discussions.

If I made a bot, it would have circle recognition built in to detect cup-size and search for text like "Service: X/5" where X is greater than 4 and "Face: Y/5" where Y is greater than 4. Bump it to the top of my list and send me an email to check out the newly reviewed WGs first before they get over booked

If i made a real bot with AI (male), I'd program it to be as realistic as possible. It would most definitely commit suicide after realizing there are so many beautiful women out there and he's just a script in a computer.

If i made a female bot with AI, knowing myself, I'd make it be my girlfriend for a while.  It would eventually search all my records, get jealous, find a way to physically manifest itself and come kill me.

let us know when u plan to come to HK--you'll find bros are happy to meet newbies IF we have the time. Hong Kongers work a lot, add in family/life-chores and the pursuit of happiness, it can be difficult to meet. i don't get to meet some of the gents i've met on this board in person as often as i'd like, just because...it's HK. you'll see when u get here. but it's a compact place and if we can spare a couple of hours, happy to take you on a tour of some interesting districts.

on to the bots: curious why u used an IRCbot as an example. it's true this forum has little in the way of security as it's expected now. but here's the deal: it's built on the Discuz system which is double-byte and intended for Chinese-language use. the bulk of this board is the Chinese part, and the English forum is more like a "plug-in"...bilingual bros often say they prefer the English side as the content is higher quality and more impartial. but it's: one board, two systems (couldn't resist!).

Discuz for English hasn't been updated since 2006, and the spiderbots/spambots, i guess, are sliding on past hunting for Chinese character-sets. dunno how much spam the Chi-side gets, but there's very little here. the main problem is guys making multiple identities, and the inevitable trolls who seem to either be kids pretending, or guys desperate to see the RA30 fotos, and the usual trolls. the mods are good at finding these out, and ordinary members like myself do check for the "one-line wonders" and other guys who--innocently or not--are violating the rules of the forum. there have been disagreements here, and not all members have been pleased at the outcome, but in general gents are polite (there are very few, if any, female members AFAIK). there is a "Fight Club" section if members wanna go at it, because flame-wars are usually snuffed out quickly. this is BY FAR the politest and least insular monger-forum i've been on. there's extensive info on P4P in HK/Macau/China and even a "Rest of the World" section and searching for keywords will turn up some unique info.

in my, er, interviews with WGs in HK, none of them read the English site, but many know about it (their agents pay to have the included in the DB) and some have asked me write reports about them to increase their business. and frankly, it's worked. i dunno how this works on the Chinese side, perhaps someone can add their impressions.

my security tips (and feel free to add any):
- don't include any personal, including birthdate or email address, in your profile. members can ALWAYS reach each other thru the PM function.
- if someone else has access to yr computer, don't autosave passwords in the login prefs, don't click "permanent" on the cookie-selector, and be sure to logout when yr done.
- many browsers have preferences that will autofill URLs, if yr machine is accessible by someone else, turn OFF this feature and clear yr browser cache. if not, someone might idly type in "se" and before she gets to the "x" key, "sex141.com" fills the URL-bar. and u might have some splainin' to do...

all of the above apply to the mobile version of this site as well.

i think a lot of bros should take more care with the traditional stuff: text msgs or phone calls on yr mobile, images on camera cards or hard disks, mysterious condom "souvenirs," etc.

just my opinion, but we do need to take care to keep our private information PRIVATE. considering the big social-Net companies are moving in the opposite direction, it's more important than ever.

Bro Jack, it was not I who used the term IRC bots. It was bro Yazoo who used the term as part of his explanation to bro SEAJ's questions. I have used the term bots only as an example and specifically because it would be easer for most readers to understand. If I had used other complex terminology, it would have made the whole discussion rather difficult and more importantly turned off anybody who'd have been reading it till that point   

Thank you for the compliments, and I am not an Information Technology geek, really. I just happen to understand the stuff, a little bit more, but the whole IT industry and the myriads of ways in which it touches our lives is constantly evolving and increasing, so one tries to keep up a bit

I think your suggestions are extremely valid. I have one to add as well:

In-private browsing - in any browser that we use: Internet Explorer, FireFox, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc., there is always an option given for in-private browsing. What that means is that the browser itself does not track the site, will not retain the history and will not allow the website to store any tracking cookies on your computer. This would be the easiest method to ensure one doesn't end up in a bit of a mess with the SO/GF/as applicable.

I will just toss a word or two in here, and more later (sort of tied up right now...)

Because this version of diuscuz is pretty old, there are certainly some cracks in it.  There are ways to get things done that are not always so easy to spot.   

Posting bots do exist, especially for common systems like vbulletin.  These bots can do everything including the full signup of a new user, and posting on existing threads as well as creating new ones if you like.  It isn't really much more difficult after that point to narrowly focus a bot to a set of topics, example, and work from there.

RA is restrictive, getting to RA30 does actually require some effort.  That is why we see newbies here reposting stuff from other forums hoping to get credit and Ks for it.  You could probably pretty easily take a bot and have it do the same thing, creating one or two new punt threads a week, making it look like you are just an active punter.

I think we had a female member who for a while was quite an active participant. I can't remember her name or if she was from the Isle of Lesbos or not but some of the Mods knew her and confirmed it was legit, not just some Bro being a dick head.
