At the end of the day it is up to each indivdual to be responsible for their actions and no excuses should be made...and while I also don't condone violence I do believe that if you are going to blame someone for costing your business money...blame the governement!

IMHO - it is just scruffy little gangster wannabes using an excuse to do it! I am not saying the police are not to blame. The police shot dead this guy, then due to 'communicational errors' did not even explain themselves to the guys family.

The police said he shot at them, the bullet his a police radio. But there was no evidence of it??

I do not understand why they just do not use the water cannon on them? Or rubber bullets? - As a lot of people have said, if it was Ireland it would be over by now! Our government are too soft!

OK – let me first say this….about my ideology…welll….I AIN”T got none!! My brother was running a steel factory in Jakarta, Indonesia during the 1998 Race riots against the Chinese. Well, instead of depending only on armed guards, my brother was actually being protected by his workers led by the watchmen (Errr… no, we didn’t have any armed guards!)  Even had a convoy safeguarding him and his family to a “safe” hotel and eventually to the airport; Yup, they jumped on their motorcycles and various jalopies and actually formed a convoy to escort him and his family out.  And the reason for all that kindness?? The employees appreciated how we treated them, paid them/gave benefits better than most others and they wanted the steel mill to survive to allow them to just go back to their old jobs. THAT … is what being a benevolent capitalist – especially in place where the Ginni coefficient is out of whack – can do for the “Masters of the Universe.”

OK – Going back to Ole Blighty. If an employer there would have been more cognizant of the real hardship his employees have to go through instead of just obsessing whether to trade in his Porsche or his Land Rover for a Prius, his workers would NOT have been out there rioting. Multiply that by ALL the employers – and you would not have had this all happening.

The same with the Government – all governments actually. Yeah, rising political stars ARE usually guided by some altruistic dreams to make theirs a better place; others share their dream and elect them to their exulted places.  But once there, the reality of dirty politics soon devours them out of any ethics or moral consideration; they just scramble to keep their position and end up just like any other politicians.

PCSO = Police community support officer.

Basically a plastic cop thats not allowed a truncheon.

A police helper with limited powers compared to a proper pc.

Manchester got off lightly compared to London but copycat attacks will continue whilst police handle softly.

These attacks are just greed for looting, robbing passers by and general mayhem. Unfortunately for a lot of youngsters it is a way to get their kicks.

I have a family member who is a PCSO - pretty do all the footwork for the police and help out in raids. They go around the neighbourhoods and find out info etc etc.

No weapons or anything but they have the power to hold people & request police etc. They take a lot of minuscule tasks from the police.

Good to see young people are stepping up against the riots.   The example is great that you ca be young And have a good head on your shoulders.

I knew a guy who was a good man too. But unfortunately, he wasn't rich and well-off as your brother & family. He ran asmall shop, lived on top of it with his family and had 4 or 5 workers helping out. Wasn't rolling in the dough but making just enough to put his kids through school, pay the bills and his workers a fair wage. Well, 1998 rolled around, he didn't have the money to put his family on a plane, his workers ran away when the thugs and looters came and burnt his shop and home and the neighborhood... in the confusion his younger sister got separated when they were fleeing and was gang raped in the streets... she later hung herself...she was only 17. He was crying when he recounted this... some of the looters were locals and customers that he thought were friends... He never went back....

Yes, I've heard of some very bad things that happened in Indonesia during that time as well as in 1964 when Sukarno was toppled and the Chinese was also then targeted.

I just hope that such things never happen again in Indonesia - but I'm perhaps just a bit naive, as these kind of persecution seems to repeat itself time and time again; worse, it not only happens in Indonesia, but also in too many parts of the world. And it even happens where "civilization" is supposedly more advanced - as recent events in the U.K. can attest to.

Some context for you first, the UK police especially the Met are like the HK police in 1960, absolutely and totally corrupt and they are completely above the law. Evidence conveniently goes missing, suspects are 'accidentally shot' while restrained. Which means the police can do anything they want without repercussions this has caused a hell of a lot of resentment.

A biggie was last year Ian Tomlinson attacked by the police and died. The police propaganda machine said he attacked them, then the video came out proving the police lied. The attacker had nothing (a cop) happen to him.

What happened recently is:

They shot a gangster, originally the police story was he shot at them, they shot back.

Three days later it was the cop who shot another cop. Ballistics proved it. His gun had no bullets.

The gangsters car was stopped people haulled out and put face down on the street. The gangster was executed on the street (gun to head while cuffed and face down). Multiple witnesses claim this, the CCTV evidence conveniently went missing.

8 hours later...

A 16 year old girl protested and small group demanding answers from the police. The police stone walled them. The police did a rodney king on her beat her black and blue CCTV footage again went missing. The small group grew into a larger group and got angry and started attacking the police. The police retreated and it turned into a massive riot. A bunch of opportunists then started looting and attacking people.

The police then realised that they don't have carte blanche and can't white wash and cover it up, and spent 4 days thumb in their arses trying not to make it worse. I.e. sure they could end the riot tomorrow but this might make more people angry and cause an insurrection (this toppled Eygpt).

In the meantime a number of opportunists everywhere realised the cops were off the streets and took advantage.

I am not calling you a liar bro. I heard AND saw what happened to Ian Tomlinson. In my view it was just an tragic accident. There were protesters getting violent pushing & shoving the police.

The Police were shoving them back, Ian walked around the corner oblivious to what was going on and the Police shoved him, obviously thinking he was part of the protesters.I would not say it was excessive force, yes there was no need to shove him (heat of the moment I would say) he hit the ground and later died in Hospital.

I am not condoning what the police did or do. Multiple witnesses who, 90% of them are probably gangsters themselves!

I heard about the Police stonewalling the protesters. Apparently it was a communication 'Mix Up' were a head DI was supposed to be giving a statement, but nobody told him he was supposed to give it. So he did not turn up.
