I've heard this is safe but just want to get experienced punters' views:

Any things you should (aside from cash) take with you and things you should not? Is an ID necessary, for example?

Take your ID card - in case you get checked by police (unlikely, but always good to take - you may not get checked punting, but just generally on the streets?! Never know...best to carry it with you).

It's fairly safe. Bring along your own protection (condoms) if you want. I carry a few around myself just in case.

If you're ONLY going punting, I wouldn't take the credit card/ATM card (unless you need to withdraw cash) etc. Best leave those at home.

Take camera or phone with camera function if you intend to take pics to share with us.

Hmmm... how about bringing a list (preferably with picture) of your other options in case the girl you're targetting are not available, B&S, turned out not to be your type, or other problems that may arise.  So you don't have to go back to your hotel/home and start to search again.

Bringing a mobile phone (better if it's for punting use only) will potentially save you a lot of time/effort/transport money/aggravation too.

Bring only one (1) id card, i.e. passport/visa or driver's license and enough cash. Don't bring too much cash and extra card i.e. atm card or credit cards you'll not need them.

where are you from? It is highly unlikely you will be asked to produce ID. If you want to have something with you, hold a photocopy only and keep your original passport in your room safe.

Other Bros have already mentioned camera and condoms, cash (obviously) agree with that. Some Bros have success bring the WG a small gift, chocolate, KFC, they say something like that can be a good icebreaker.

Definitely suggest match book or hotel address card (where you are staying).

Don't forget to bring a whip, too. It'll go well with the handcuffs.

I use to get a bit paranoid bringing too much to the place of a WG... but slowly I realize they are almost all very professional because they're doing business after all. Most Walk-up Girls have small rooms anyways and you will always have your belonging in view.

As for HG, I've never tried one but I think you'll need to be more careful with those places..

Always bring your ID card and your phone. Always bring extra cash because you never know whether you may end up having to pay more than expected (for good reasons ).

meeni has hit it spot on - for walkups, their rooms are so tiny that you will always be able to keep an eye on your stuff.

(It's been a while, but) last year I quite often mongered with a backpack full of all my good stuff - cameras, laptop, ipod etc... because I would combine mongering with the usual touristy sightseeing stuff. Not only are the rooms small, but I found that the walkup girls want to get in the shower with you and clean you - good fun, but this is also the time I am usually wary in other countries - you're washing off your little Bro after a session while they are going though your stuff . Generally not a problem in HK, but something to be aware of.

HK mongering is pretty easy in regards to security. Just be aware of when you cannot see your bags, but in general, no problem. I'm even going to go out on a limb and say that the gals are not interested in your passport, bankcards etc... anyway. At most, they might grab a few notes if they see them.

Is the concern about cash because you are worried about being robbed?  If so, I think the probability is extremely low.  It is a business, and any bad publicity would spread quickly and soon destroy business.  I am probably a bit complacent but I don’t really worry any more about carrying cash or valuables etc.  Even so, I avoid going with street walkers to unknown locations, as I do not know where I am being taken.  Other reports have said that it is generally OK in the Temple St area, but I’m still cagey about that.  You do occasionally read of honey trap scams, where people posing as boyfriends or relatives of supposedly underage girls appear and try to extort money, but this is rare, and when it occurs seems to be targeted at locals.  It is the WGs who really need to worry - there have been cases of robberies and even murders recently.  There may be people you meet in bars or nightclubs in Wanchai who have evil intent, so watch your drinks in case anyone tries to slip rohypnol in.

If you want to increase your RA quickly, bring a camera and take some real shots of the girls you visit (if they consent).  As a newbie you can’t see the photos yet, but even the crappiest real pictures attract lots of karma, as they are so useful, with the amount of PS going on in the DB.

I'd bring diff't IDs if I were on the trip.  That is, in the hotel room, say leave your pass port + driver license, but w/ you, carry another form of iD>

tkae what you would take IF YOU WERE TO LOSE it all.

Don't bring your gf/wife!      Everything else you have with you, your safe!

i wouldn't advise to bring the "proper" ID with you and best to leave locked in hotel, instead you can bring photo copy and if stopped by police check etc you can ask them to go to hotel with you for confirmation, most of the time they will let you pass if you speak english etc bring your on dom doms as the ones they use tend to be real cheap stuff and be inclined to break during a session, which has happened a couple of times when i started going to these places.... oh and bring a cheap phone so if its stolen or lost you arent too heart broken

In case of cash, do the WGs accept USD or only HK Dollars ? TIA

On money, that I can answer: US dollars won't get you far in Hong Kong. Chinese RMB are more welcome but even so there is NO reason not to just use HKD.

Generally agree with the suggestions ... a couple missing:-

1. your current hunting shortlist
name / address / vitalstats / price

2. cash: include some $100s, a $50, and some $20s ... then you can give the exact amount after deciding the tip you want to give ...

and another suggestion:

3. web-enabled phone, for checking details at the last minute, or for translate.google.com to talk to her

and for the paranoid:

4. Hat

5. dark glasses

6. long coat

7. gloves (never know where your prints might end up!)

Why do we have to bring condoms ? Will WG provide one before the main action ?

a) yes she will but
b) it's going to be the cheapest she can buy in large quantities and
c) unless you're average size and shape it may not fit you very well

SO ...  if you value your comfort or your peace-of-mind you bring your own.  

But no, not necessary - if you get the urge one day as you're walking past an address you know, just head on up - no need to divert via 7-11
