#1 Post at 3-5-2010 00:27  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Current cost of visa into china anyone? hi all, I just submitted my app for a visa to china in melbourne.. they have moved their offices which is good as the lines where long as and the opening hours where short... The lines in the past where like an hour long at best and the services where like from 9 to 12.. these days it is open from 9 to 3 and i only lined waited for 10 mins, bloody amazing! But it seems that to cover their cost of the new offices and extra workers they have jacked up their prices.. from abt $45aud to $75aud for a single entry. Can anyone tell me the current price for a visa?? maybe it is cheaper to get it at the boarder..

You wouldn't want to get to the border only to find that they've changed the rules and you needed an extra piece of paper that's in your Melbourne office desk. I'd always get the consulate visa before leaving, just for peace of mind.

But definitely if you plan on venturing further in I would get the Visa abroad. In Canada $50 for single entry good for 3 months/ $75 double entry good for 6 months/ $100 for 6 months/ $150 for 1 year unlimited entries no need of proof of flights and hotels they just need a form to be filled and a ID type picture.

There is nothing stopping you from traveling beyond Shenzhen but just don't get caught. If transiting in HK, best to get one from the China Travel Service or a travel agency. This will take one day and cost HK$500. Just complete the form along with your photo and collect it by the end of the day (if you submit this in the morning). The visa you get from the travel agent would be valid for travel throughout China. [ Last edited by  geoduck at 3-5-2010 09:39 ]

I am goingto HK in 10 days for a Month and the Visa for Multi entry cost me 130 USD. The visa however is good for 1 year.

Also I have tried getting a multi entry visa for 6mths or 1 year.. but they want me to prove i have relos in china, otherwise there is no way. I think they restrict the visa's coz they want to make more money from multiple applications. In my passport alone i have like 6 visa 's for the past 2and a half years.. fuckers keep ripping me off!

Last time I got a 1 month visa at the consulate here in Sydney, I think it was $30AUD. If you had a U.S. passport I think it was more than 4x this amount. Does anyone know the reason for this two tier system? Is it simply higher processing costs imposed by the U.S. ?
