Supplements drugs

As one grows old, the sexual desire declines which is a result of decrease in the level of testosterone/DHEA etc. produced inside his body. I can find from the web many supplements which claim to help boosting/maintaining  the testosterone at a level when you are young. My questions are

1.Any bro. here has tried them and do they really work? can you tell me your experience
2.Any side effect? I have read some comments on the web that continuous intake may casue damages to liver, more easy to have prostate cancer, hair loss etc.Is this true??

TY very much for your input/information

I found that if I need a testosterone boost, I just have to go for a fast jog for at least 20 minutes.  If you exercise regularly, you would not need to take any of those supplements, plus your erections are firmer and your stamina much improved.  Stay natural, I say.

Hmm. well maybe I am not qualified to advise.  Getting enough sleep every day helps as long as eating a proper diet and not smoking.

There are older bros here who you may be able to ask and help you.  I think Siklong69 is older than you are.

Hey,

I'm still pretty young (young enough!) and still have strong sexual desires without the help of any drugs. However, being a regular gym rat, I was taking a supplement a while ago to help with my performance in the gym. I was taking Axis HT from BSN. It was great but one of the side effects was that I was horny.. ALL the time. I'm off that now but after about a week of taking it, and I'm not exagerating, I could have sex at least 4 times every day and still not feel satisfied. It's a really strange feeling but it was great till my wallet drained and my gf couldn't keep up.. haha..

Here's a link to their site: http://store.bsnonline.net/detail/axisht.html

I'm obviously not a physician so it's probably best if you consult one before you start taking it if you are older and not a regular gym junkie. I talked to my trainer at the gym before taking it and he said it's great for performance but the bad thing was that I'd feel horny all the time.. not sure if it's so bad if you ask me!

Yes, I'm about a decade older. I'm still very horny and at times feel I'm hornier than I was in my fifties, but the old body is not always able to keep up.
I haven't started taking any supplements, but I'm also looking into them as I sometimes feel I need an energy boost.
I only rarely take anything like Viagra or Cialis, with a preference for Cialis as it doesn't give me that hazy feeling that Viagra does and it also last for up to three days.
I'm quite a bit overweight and feel somewhat sluggist because of this so I've been working on this for the past six months and actually feel better.
I have older friends who are very horny and have sex several times a week and also younger friends who only have sex about once a month.
I have been told that there are some Chinese herbal concoctions which work on boosting enery and general vigour.
Any more information would be welcome.
I have just posted a report on my experience with Apple yesterday and amazingly I came twice within one session and I'm sure it wasn't one of those cases of partially coming and then finishing it off.

I've found I've slowed down as the years go by, but never taken supplements either. I now make sure any appointments are not rushed so I pay for the extra time I know I will need. This means there is no pressure and I can spend a long time on foreplay and usually that works, especially as most girls enjoy this as well.

I'm not 53, but the libido does level off as you get older. One of the benefits, if you use WL regularly as I do, is that you save money. Sex is a small albeit very enjoyable part of life. A good session every week or so is plenty why try to fight it. Using drugs to artificially boost your libido will only hasten it's eventual end. I know for example that my grandfather was active till near the end at 90+ and he never used anything, mind you he was slim, active, didn't drink or smoke.

Exercise is a good idea, but jogging is hard on the knees and ankles, your better off with weight resistance training combined with walking, gardening, working a job that doesn't involve sitting on your arse all day at a desk or vehicle, etc.

I am aware that running/jogging will keep on putting pressure on your knees and ankles but fortunately, I am a small and slim guy with body weight less than 55kg. So,the exercise hasn't done me any harm so far. BTW what's WL

Running 30 min a 2-4x a week will not ruin your knees.  Also running the right form with decent shoes will prevent injuries.  I do all sorts of sports & running longer distance is my new thing for the past 3 yrs & this is not an issue if its done right.  Remember, if you are carrying 20 or say 30lbs more than you are suppose to, your back, your foot, etc etc...is carrying all that extra weight

I think atomic3d was referring to "working ladies",
what we call "working girls" (WGs) here.

Yes of course if you take all the necessary precautions and start out at sensible pace, jogging will have benefits, but too many see themselves putting on weight and decide to take up jogging without realising they could be doing more harm than good.

Personally I think bicycling provides all the benefits of jogging without the constant hammering of body joints.

I've seen studies that show weight resistance training has far more benefit as regards maintaining an active physic, as you move into later middle age you lose muscle tissue, sensible weight resistance training will actually put it back.

I hate running and I hate swimming.. but it's a necessity. What I do is put on a good movie or TV Show (currently watching SuperNatural) and hit the treadmill. Also helps to have goals. For instance if I run 60 minutes today and do about 8K, my goal for before a week today is to hit 8.5K or 9K the next week and so on..

I find that the Elliptical machines are great for the knees and ankles though they don't burn as much as the treadmill or better yet, running outside. And yes, resistance training is great and puts a lot less strain than regular lifting but it's gotta be done properly or you'll end up hurting yourself more than helping.

I have read study that heavy exercise on cycling may be one of the reasons which causes ED due to the continuous pressure exerted on your testies or prestate glands while you cycle.

u must be thinking of those road bikes.  have you ever sat on those seats? Imagine sitting on those seats for many hours. I have friends who think their kids will be abnormal.

In all seriousness, this would only include the very hardcore riders & not your normal everyday riders

I seriously recommend against taking testosterone or DHEA or any other derivatives of the hormone.  To say the least, the hormone has a negative feedback loop that can inhibit pituitary function and secretion of other hormones.  Secondly, exogenous hormone tend to shrink the since of testicles.  Thirdly and most important, excessive testosterone can lead to prostate cancer.  You really have to weigh the benefits versus the risks.  Try taking vitamin supplements.  If erectile dysfunction is an issue, see your doctor about cialis or viagra.
