look - If anything, he is Asian American since he was born in California.

But if you must say Taiwanese vs. Chinese, by the Asian standard of going by the paternal side, he would definitely be considered Taiwanese.  
Now whether or not you want to consider Taiwan a province of China or a de facto nation is something completely different...

On the basketball thing, the biggest concern I have is whether or not he can hold up.  His talent level is high enough to play in the league.  Staying healthy is another
challenge for these athletes.

now this is just ridiculous.  As said imo, Yao is a hair better than Rik Smits who is comparable to me.  Yao was pretty brittle who couldn't even last 10 yrs in the league.   If I remember, i think he only played two full season without iinjury during his career.

One thing I give Yao is he is a marketing money making machine.  With rise in china in the past 10+ yrs., well over a billion people and being a pioneer with 2nd person from china to play in the nba is a surefire way to make a big splash.

Will Yao get into the Hall of Fame?  Yes
Will it partially be based on his play?  Yes
Will it be for his impact on the game in terms of opening up the China market?  Yes

Just saying, Jeremy Lin is living every Asian kids dreams. Graduate from Harvard and make the parents happy. Then turn around and piss them off by moving to NYC to
run with guys named Melo, Stat, and Tyson.

decent chance he would make the hall of fame due to being a pioneer if any. He isn't worthy imho.  He def. isn't even close to being the best of all time;not even the top 12 or so.  Too many great centers....yes like russell, wilt & jabbar.  Don't forget shaq, olajuwon, david robinson, nate thurman, bill walton, ewing, moses malone, dwight howard, mikan, willis reed  etc. i can go on forever.

To be frank, I am sure I am not the only one.  The athlete hype machine is blown out of porportion and ruins the game.  Many players from major sports come out to be the next big thing.  Its pretty rare it really comes true. I guess that is one appealing thing about J. Lin how he came out from no where & surprised the league.

one of his appeals is the underdog story & he appears to be the everyday humble person.  Him turning down so many endorsement will only add to that aura of that anti millionaire snob arrogance.  Have you seen the way he dress?  its pretty funny

“There’s been so much interest, and so many people reaching out, it is overwhelming,” a source told the Post. “They’re working to build a team to handle all this, and hiring marketing and P.R. executives. He has met with IMG.”

Montgomery has reportedly received over 1,000 emails a day from potential brands who want to work with Lin. Some of the deals have been worth “millions of dollars,” a source told the paper.

“Jeremy doesn’t want to jump into anything,” the source told the Post. “He wants to sit back and wait and see what suits him. He’s not looking for the quick money. The deals have to be right.”

In the last 10 games Lin has started all and averaged, 24.6 points, 9.2 assists, and 4.1 rebounds, and has led the Knicks to an 8-2 record in that span.

Another win for the Knicks and a good tune up game for the Lin-Anthony combo. NY completely picked apart Atlanta. However, I'm totally looking forward to tonight's game against Miami!

That was an absolutely brutal game tonight for Lin.  I actually thought they were going to keep it close... and then the third quarter happened.  Hopefully he can bounce back quickly after this one.  At least there's really no shame in losing to the Heat, cuz everyone seems to be doing that lately.

Yeah, completely destroyed. What a pick up Chris Bosh was for the Heat. He may be the last piece of the puzzle for Miami.

Stellar D by the entire Heat team made the difference. Lots of forced shots by the Knicks.

Heard on the radio this morning that someone in the dunk contest was originally planning to do a dunk over a couch... with Jeremy Lin sleeping on it!  I thought that was kinda funny and pretty clever.  I wasn't paying that close attention at first so I didn't hear the full story, but it'd be pretty cool to see!  Course, now that they've announced it, watch it not happen anymore .

Now all the tiger moms are pushing their kids to go for the NBA, instead of MBA.

More like tiger moms expect Lin to get his MBA after his stint in the NBA. One degree is not enough for a tiger mom!

I think you are correct.  Landry Fields was going to push out the couch and Jeremy was going to toss the basketball for the dunk...
