Many of the ethnic Chinese in South East Asia have that "an-asian" look even if they are pure Chinese. Could be the food they eat and drink.

There is also a Chinese myth that says if the mother during pregnancy are always looking at certain people, the newborn baby will look a little like those people. So if you have Asian friends from this part of the world you may noticed that they will put up some nice cute, beautiful baby pictures of caucasian origin in the room when they are pregnant! Hoping the baby will look like those babies in the pictures...
