Are there still decent KTVs in HK?  I'm missing the good old days of MustKara in CWB and Mont Busa on Lockhart.  It's fun to hang out with your buddies, shoot the shit and at the same time flirt with some chicks, and when you are drunk enough, go and close the deal nearby.

Haha, I also remember Mustkara just because a former director of Broadcasting was caught outside this KTV with a sexy lady by the reporters.

So, just curious, whats considered "decent" in your books?

I ask because before I left HK I was going to a couple that was just downright cheap and dirty.

I was having more fun in them than the previous ones I've been in the past.

Normally I'd spend 3-4k HKD per person, per night (3-4 hours) and that was for the drinks and girl accompanying you, no boom boom...That would have been an extra 1-2k.

In the ones I went to now, 3-4 hours in KTV room plus the extra services would set me 2-3k.

Now obviously, rooms are smaller, less choice of girls and you rarely see any under 28 but for a fun cheap night out, I suggest trying 'em.

I got hooked on 'em for a few months and went twice a week before I left.

I will defo be going back to them once I go back to HK.

This is sort of a report. I went to one in Wanchai last week. Lockhart road commercial building. About 20 girls to choose from, a combination of mainlanders, locals and Taiwanese. It’s a high end place. Drinking for 4 hours with one girl each cost $6k, and closing the deal in a nearby hourly hotel cost another $4k. Not all girls go out though. I would say the quality is good, similar to what you get at the HG places, but it’s not the most economical.

So you want quality girls at a half decent price then.

I went to one last year in TST and I think I did a report on it. Had to get a friend's buddy to book us all though, there were 7 of us.

Each hour was 550, take out was 2.5k, drinks were uber expensive, line ups of 6-7 each time. All types of girls except Westerners.

My old usual KTV went up in price from 500-600/hour so I'm not surprised if prices went up in TST. However, the ones I mentioned have reopened, limit 8 per room, but still under 500/hour. I've been with friends and by myself. I think it's a fun night out and some go there just for an hour then take the girl upstairs where there's rooms, room costs 100 for a few hours, you just need to pay the girl 450 per 45 mins. Bottles of beer are really cheap at 100/6 bottles...I find this place a real bargain tbh.

If it's the bargain find one, I know a few guys go for 30 mins or an hour, sit, then go upstairs to do the deed, 850-1060 for a couple of hours fun is great!

The budget ones I prefer is at 37 Dundas Street, MK.

Both are in the same block, floors 2 and 8 but I've been told a new one is opening soon on the 5th floor.

Now the layouts of both are the same, they are tiny compared to ones I've previously gone to, there's about 5 or 6 rooms, 2 large that can accommodate 8 people in total comfortably, but the smaller ones, which are meant to be for 4, frankly fit 2 and I'm a wee guy!

I believe they are of the same owners due to the design but mainly because when they first opened, they were sharing girls between them. ie. If it was super busy on the 2nd floor, they'd call for more from the 8th and vice versa. They've supposedly stopped doing this due to customer/profit targets for each venue so there's no point going to both if there was nothing you saw that you fancied. Now if you see nothing, just head to the next one.

Unless you arrive early straight after work, say 6-7pm, it's normally packed. It gets busy from 9pm. However, they open at 10am I think and there's even a discount before 1pm, I think $350 per hour at the KTV room or taking her upstairs for 45 mins.

Now don't expect stunners or young 'uns, most are between 4-6, I've seen a couple of young cute ones with great bodies but they are normally fully booked so you need to be a regular to get to know the names and the mamasan.

But like I said, for a fun cheap night out, it's a bargain compared to any other place I've ever been in HK. Esp. when 99% of the girls expect you to take them out.
