I am currently in Bangkok. I arrived last Saturday and heading to Pattaya on Wednesday. I also brought a newbie wingman with me. This fellow is new to Thailand and new to mongering as well. It was funny, and at times hilarious, watching his reactions and his interactions with the girls. He has also been an inconvenience, love to do sightseeing during the day and mongering at night. But, I don’t have the energy to do all that, hence i have been running on empty. I usually am careful about who to bring with me, but i think i screwed up this time.

Anyhow, so far i visited Addict, on Soi 24, twice. My first session, with Eve, was great. She was my type, friendly and customer oriented. Had a good time. The cost was around 2K bahts. But the second session, with thong(?), was meh. She was way too clinical, going by the book, and she was not receptive to kissing. I could not wait to get out of there. She realized what was happening and she became concerned that i would report her to management, but i assured that i would not do that. I also picked up FLs on 2 occasions and i was pleased, a nice punt for 1k baht each. One night, i decided to visit Lolitas after striking out at Bangkok Bunnies. Lolitas is a BJ bar close to Dynasty Grande, where i am staying. However, i am an FS person. So, i got a bbbj followed by FS. The whole thing cost me 1,200 bahts, 800 for the BJ and 400 for FS. I was pleased with the service. The chicks tend to sit outside, easy to chat with them and pick one.

I was overall disappointed with the trend i see in gogo bars. I checked a couple of them in Nana plaza. They are so focused on cleaning their customers pocket, that one needs to be on guard the whole time. Last night, i was at Bangkok Bunnies, and i liked this girl but she was adamant at making me buy as many drinks as she could, to her sister, her friend. After running a bill close to 1200 bahts, i decided to bail. She wanted 3k for ST, in addition to the barfine. That’s when i decided to go to Lolitas to get my pipe cleaned for less money. Yet, i have been coming to Bangkok for a fairly long time. I used to like gogo bars a lot because they usually have the best eye candy. But i got tired of being milked dry. Now, i just like to have a few drinks there, maybe buy one or two LDs, then move on. I lost interest in barfining these sharks.

I visited Thermae on Sunday night. The place was packed full with working girls, far outweighing customers. The girls were aggressively seeking customers, and it looked like a feast for mongers. Unfortunately i was done for the day, so i passed. My wingman was wide eyed and he could not fathom what he was seeing, priceless.

Just to lend a little perspective, that's 37 US. And that broke the bank?

I'll never get how someone will spend days-weeks of their time and drop several K USD on air/ground transportation, hotels and meals, another 1K USD on massages and FS and then somehow less than 50 USD that directly helps the girls is an outrageous expense.

IMHO if you saw how poor most these girls are and how they live you wouldn't mind buying them a drink or two.

Drinks help the girls? No! have FS and pay the girl for her work help, with drinks you help the club.
And dont forget that gogo girls have monthly salary, that is way more high than the salary that an employee of 7/11 takes for 12hrs a day.

Pay drinks to waiters, mamasan, sister, friends, for what? just for feeling so generous... but you are always a monger who pay for sex, like all of us.
You like to pay for drinks, well do it.
But for everybody who dont like to give away drinks for nothings, not do it! you are not obliged! the more you offer it, the more they will want it.

I'm in Thailand to bang chicks, not to buy drinks and feel good about myself. If I want to do that I would volunteer at the local soup kitchen.

Gogo girls asking for 3000b ST plus BF (800/1500), this is already big income.
So i think 1/2 drinks for the customers and 1/2 drinks for the girls are enough, it’s annoying when they try to scam us with this one drink for other staff.
It’s our choice to offer one more LD to her or not.
The girl in the report just lose 3000b income only for act bad with LD, so not a good marketing action, the OP just move next and get laid. ;-)

I actually agree with aspects of both JJJ37 and  Dr. A.

I don’t like people that are cheap. I don’t like those that avoid paying a fair amount to the person they are in contact with in any transaction.

I also laugh at people that complain about 1500 baht here and 400 baht there. I wonder if they even realize how much enjoyment they lose from their holiday by being so cheap on things. It just isn’t worth it. This isn’t a hobby for those with little disposable income.

Just as it is their right to be cheap, it is fully within my right to call it out when I see it. Last trip i never left my room without 15K baht in my pocket. Every morning I would reload out of my safe back to 15K. On only 1 day did I need to replace more that 6K baht. I don’t drink, big savings. I buy drinks for girls if I find them attractive or interesting. I buy a drink for mamason if she earns it in some manner. I usually buy for any of my friends I happen to be touring with even if they are drinnging alcohol. Not every round, but we rotate. I honestly can’t ever spend my available daily rate in Thailand. I’ve never once felt like.a victim while in Thailand. I buy and spend what I want when I want. This trip i had lunch at the Pattaya Hilton 4 days. One day was brunch and was 1500 baht. Most days it was 500-600 baht. One day I brought along my long time girl and bought her lunch also.

I did what I wanted when I wanted. It was a great trip.

Dr. A is right that the market sets the prices in this type of economy. I understand trying to have a punt at my the best possible cost, but negotiation can quickly ruin any real connection with the girl.

But, these are just my thoughts and don’t represent those of the board.

I try to "walk the middle path" when in Thailand, so I'll do the same here--gents, I believe it'd be best if we not start a flame war, OK? I think everyone here has good points.

@ lefeu: You have a pal who's new to mongering and you took him to PATTAYA? Nice one! You're braver than I am, have some karma.

I have a basic philosophy: local culture should be respected, and local rates should prevail. When I lived in Bangkok, I had three regulars (with a cast of guest-stars) and with each, market rates were the rule. I also made sure that my fridge was stocked with snacks, and they knew they could hang out--one was allowed to stay overnight on occasion.

But there was no surcharge for her sleeping over, it was up to her...and me. If you're living there and indulging like this, you need to realize things that tourists don't have to worry about:

1) They speak Isaan dialect and so too do your building security guards. Those guys, who wear uniforms and salute you smartly, have more solidarity with your dates than they do with you, the resident.

2) The women will test you: they'll leave personal items to see how you'll react. Have a strategy for that.

But some things apply to all farang in Thailand. It's a conservative culture--yes it is, despite all the neon and naughtiness, Thailand is conservative. Because of this:

A) Dress reasonably well: long pants, shirt with a collar, actual shoes (not flip-flops). Yes it's hot/humid and you're on vacation. When mongering, dress well.

B) If you can learn a few polite Thai phrases, do so. It goes a LONG way.

C) Spending...well, bound to be some controversy here. But consider this: many Thai WGs come from villages that are far-from-wealthy. They'd come to Bangkok and see farang spending more in a night than most people they knew earned in a month. Soon they realized that some farang would put up with stuff no Thai man would tolerate. I could go on but I think many of you get the point.

Thing is: they come from backgrounds where thrift is a virtue--not "cheapness" but spending money wisely. We all have our concept of value-for-money, but it's a sliding scale, and the scale in rural Thailand is not Terminal 21-level. Yes, they will take your money, but won't respect you for spending what they consider silly amounts. Money does not "buy respect" in Thailand. Other things carry value as well. This isn't simple to explain.

It's your vacation but it's their country and their culture. Many Thai WGs aren't sophisticated, but if they've been on the game for awhile, they know their business, and their business is YOU. They tend to run in packs and compete with each other. Most of them have boyfriends or husbands, many have children AND parents to support back in the provinces. Thais are usually sensual people and enjoy sex. They also enjoy good jokes. I think of it as a "sanuk/satang" equation--yes, they wanna enjoy themselves and have you enjoy yourself, and get paid, and come back and do it again.

Payment should be appropriate. Gifts should be appropriate. You don't pay 6,000 baht to a streetwalker nor 1,000 baht to a high-end escort. Personally, I never tip on demand--I tip when it's warranted.

I have no opinion on go-gos because I've seen them morph from honeypots to money-pits. I do like to look at naked girls dancing but I'm done with the annoyance of being asked to buy drinks for women I've no interest in, who are in fact distracting me from looking at the naked girls, so it's kind of an infinite negative loop. I don't drink alcohol--if I'm sniffing around Thailand at night, I'm looking for a fuck. I used to enjoy that sort of street-hunting when I lived there, and during that time I was ordering up girls like pizza, so I guess I'm a total man-whore, and I'm fine with that.

Just some thoughts. OK gents, keep your cool is my request--this is not a one-size-fits-all question. I do what I want, which is why I almost always monger solo. I'm not hanging around some place while some wingman dithers and drones on. If a lovely fish has leapt into my creel, I'm heading to a private place and enjoying the HELL out of it now, oke-doke??

Yep, its all your choice but a relatively rich westerner who spends thousands of $$$$ on themselves and then won't spend .003% of that on a lovely women that is dirt poor certainly its not generous or thoughtful.

Sure we can give to a charity and after they skim and take their overhead cut maybe 20% of the donation makes it to those in need. This is a chance to have fun and directly help people that are providing the fun. A unique opportunity. And oh by the way, the service and attention you get will be cranked up several notches so the RIO is pretty good.

And YES, at the same time be careful not to have every cent sucked out of your wallet. If that happens its not their fault, its yours.

Frankly it seems like some would be punting with coupons if that was possible.

I don’t know why this is a difficult concept to comprehend. If a people disagree about something it doesn’t make either opinion right or wrong, it just means there is a difference of opinion.

If I think someone is cheap because they try to negotiate a girl down that is asking 1.5K baht for a short time that’s my opinion and I am fully entitled to have that opinion and to share it. It in no way means it is factual to the other person or even the girl in question.

Now if you don’t like that I do that, that is a different issue. That is fully in your right to not endorse my statements.

Of course to each his own, but I have been with enough girls to know that they don't think highly of people with loose money. They think either that you have too much that you believe in throwing it around or that you are a fool to be taken advantage of.

I believe this is a basically a commercial transaction and would like to keep it that way. @jake.houston I only complain about the buffet pricing at JWM, because it's almost as expensive as the Sunday brunch at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, and not as good. I come to have a good time, and know how to deal with the hustlers (actally, speaking some Thai is a really good way to get rid of them lol)
