I think there's certain romanticism of the Triads here. They wouldn't give a blind fuck. Sexual offenders tend to get a shitty time in prisons in most parts of the civilised world but there is little statistics to suggest they do in Chinese prisons. In fact, with Lee's family wealth, he would serve a very short time and in comfort, much of that comfort would be provided by criminal gang members. I have dealt with criminal gangs from many cultures and the Chinese gangs have just as few notions of honour as most others. Wealthy families have paid people to do time for their sons. It's common. One famous case of DUI man slaughter in which a police officer was dragged to his death by a drunk & coked up tycoon's son, he got two years for it. But he never served a day. They put someone else in prison, pretending to be him, while he did 2 years in his dad's country house. Chinese is an extremely corrupt & hypocritical culture. It makes me nauseous. And I am ethnic Chinese.

I just read the news link. The article claimed he did this to almost 50 women. How didthis number get so large. Shouldn't some women report him after his first few times?

that's easy to understand ... partly under-reporting, by girls who are too embarrassed
especially the case in a society where it matters to a girl if she loses face

and partly by LE being skeptical and not following up - really hard to prove rape when drugged, when you can't remember the details, and have to prove you were an unwilling participant

it's a nasty world out there
