Just really tired of the same ol shit, can't be in this industry forever.  I've been working in the nightclub/events/music industry more or less since I was 18.  The hours are not cool either.  Explains my 4-5am post on this site.  Would like to be in a different environment.

And before you throw in the towel - you will want to really consider what it is that you not only want to do - but more importantly, what you actually CAN do.  Also, if whatever it is that you want to do, can actually support you in the custom you've grown accustomed to.

Your best bet would be to approach a reputable head hunter to sit you down, ask you questions about yourself - and then outline to you what is do-able/ideal for you; treat these guys as the guidance counselor in school - except that his counseling has to be good if he's gonna be able to make any commissions from placing you.

You should also talk with some of the more successful - and happy - customers at your club.  I'm pretty sure that you can easily spot them - and remember that success begets success and that successful people surround themselves with their ilk

I'd also like to remind you that this IS a sex forum - and I'm not quite sure if anything you could glean from here is going to be of any solid use on employment matters.

Im just shooting the shit around here cause im tired of hearing from people i know, sometimes you need to ask some strangers as friends like to say the same ol shit.  Sometimes its nice to consult with strangers just to hear some various opinions.

i hang out here because it's interesting reading, and you never know who'll pop in with tales of visa-woes, overpriced burgers, impassioned rants or pix of nekkid wimmin.

it's just got a sort of hog-wild-anarcho edge that i like. maybe it's just me: when i grew up in the US Midwest, NO ONE ever ever EVER went to Asia, not that i knew of. Europe was considered the edge of adventure. all we knew was Godzilla movies, and wasn't there some war over there awhile back, and "Chinese" food was stuff like beef-with-peapods in cardboard boxes with wire hoops.

eventually i ripped loose and moved to San Francisco, where i found out that there were many, MANY things they pretended didn't exist, and might not even want me to know enough. my Hog-Wild-Brain-Portion began to crackle and spark.

Japantown: anime, porno, amazing grocery stores. Chinatown: multiple movie theaters, all showing double-bills, great eateries. the Tenderloin: scary drunks and awesome Vietnamese places for mutant-French sandwiches or mystery noodle soups and coconut-drinks with slippery green jelly-things. even the publishing hipsters and film freaks were dimly aware of this stuff, if at all. my co-workers who'd originally come from HK grew weary of my queries: "why u like Chow Yun-fat?! go see...Bruce Willis in DIEHARD!"

i kept exploring...soon started taking Japanese-language lessons and trying taiko drumming with Master Seiichi Tanaka. my Japan obsession was nitrous-charged when i returnedfrom my maiden voyage to Asia and moved into a building where a group of Japanese women lived: they were in SF to study English. we soon were having weekly potluck dinners at my flat. amazingly, i didn't clink groins with ANY of 'em: 1) most of 'em had BFs back home, 2) i had a serious GF. yes, Caucasian-American-type GF. before u splutter "WTF u thinking Jack?!" know that she was a gorgeous six-foot exotic dancer from NYC. introducing her to my friends was batso-nuts: half of them would say "oh my GOD u gotta marry this one don't let her get away!" and the other half would HIT ON HER, i mean blatant, i'd be standing there thinking, has this guy FORGOTTEN that i'm standing right here and intro'd her as my girlfriend?!

fun times. but soon i just decided to see if i could live in Asia. it took some doing, but i've been here awhile now. at first people thought i was in great peril, would be chopped into wonton-filling or who knows what. but, i don't get that so much anymore.

Yes - this thread is probably a good place to consult with "strangers" so to call. LOL!

OK, here's another suggestion - and that is that since you're already in china - why don't you take some time to actually travel around China a bit.  Much like JackTheBat did in just busting loose, you may be able to find opportunities and also to put your own situation in another perspective.

Take some time off work, get out of the rut, do something just for yourself/discovering yourself - and what a helluva opportunity it is for you to do just that, in such a country as China!

Hey, make sure you come down South and at least spend some time in Chang Ping - another facet of the "Entertainment Industry of China"that you probably are not all that familiar with - and which may open your eyes to "tweaking" your present situation to something more satisfying.  Who KNOWS??!

Yes, the Mid West is true America. Very conservative, very Republican and where people eat too much. Where else would you see people in this day and age still wallop steak and eggs accompanied by a stack of maple syrup pancakes for breakfast! It's the land of plenty and lots of big women, particularly in Milwaukee.

Except the mid-west is changing as well. Gang activities that used to only happen in the big coastal cities are infiltrating into rural America. Mid-westerners are moving to the coasts for a "better life", abandoning the conservative lifestyle. I could go on and on but I don't want to make this a political thread.

Chinese, especially Shanghainese like anything new/avant garde and the novelty of a non-smoking area specifically set out in a hip club may just take on.

I remember a few years back before the total ban on smoking in Hong Kong, at the New World hotel, they set aside smoking and non-smoking areas with a nice little card on the tables explaining such by the philosophy of Yin and Yang (even a rendering of the Chinese black vs white circle signifing yin-yang). It worked and people were specifying which areas of the restaurant they wanted to be at.

And all it took was a few hundred dollars investment in little cards!

I give Ks when I believe a post is extra informative or helpful. That is often for a report but not exclusively. I also do it for other posts I like. I use As when I want to make a quick point that doesn't warrant a stand alone post.

Obviously Ks are awarded here to encourage participation so it's hard to assess to what extent this thread can run on it's own steam.

If Joe was interested in properly evaluating how popular this thread "really" is, he would cease awarding Ks and dramatically reduce his own post count for a week and see what happens. On the other hand, I do like the idea of the "shoot the breeze / no holds barred" kind of limited environment this thread creates and so it's a worth while experiment.

Do mods have the ability to assess stats, not so much posts per day... Joe is single handedly increasing that figure... and not posts per view because not every thread has one person driving half the posts. I would love to hear stats that say new members who sign up and actually continue to 100+ posts has increased "X" fold etc. Something that shows members who sign on have been made to feel comfortable by this thread and as a result engage other areas of the forum and both participate and contribute. I'd like to hear that the average number of "online" members has increased "X" %. That would be an excellent result.
