I don't think Wenger needs to be sacked, far from it.
It's a sad fact, but Arsenal simply can't compete with the spending power of the other big players any more. Ergo we cannot attract the top players with huge salaries.
I came to terms with that last year but a lot of fans are still waiting for the team to falter just so they can say, 'I told you so.'
The simple fact is if you get a taste of glory you'll always want it that much more.
Some people forget Wenger has taken the Gunners to 13 consecutive Champions League spots this year and on a limited budget of nobodies.
How many of those nobodies turned into world class players who he sold on for a pretty penny? I can't think of many managers that can boast the same credentials.
The key is to have realistic expectations given the reality of the situation. Arsenal are simply living within their means at the moment due to paying back the new stadiums debt.
You can't blame Wenger for the lack of funds at his disposal.
Kroenke and co. are still developing a feasible business model to future proof the club for generations to come. For the foreseeable future at least, we will be behind the others in terms of spending power.
Hopefully with new cash injections from Adidas and Fly Emirates, Wenger will have a bit more money to spend next year.
If we are still in this position come February though, garnering that Champs League spot and all the money that comes will be cutting it close but I'm looking forward to the chase.
