Reminds me of the extremely aggressive form of AIDS discovered 3 years ago, there were news articles in the US about it, literally nicknamed "Super AIDS" because it went from HIV to aggressive late stage AIDS in only a matter of days and was drug resistant.

For reasons I don't really understand, Russia and the eastern block countries therein have abnormally high HIV/AIDS infections. Very high.
As far as asia I guess Thailand is pretty high (though no surprise) and Vietnam, or so I was told on my trip there and I remember seeing many HIV/AIDS awareness billboards on my travels there. Not sure how bad it is in Hong Kong.
