I often stayed at the Parkway Inn: a sliver of a building just around the corner from NEP. They had king-size beds and some rooms had no windows--I was fine with that as I caught up on sleep from working in HK. The best were in the front though, as the SkyTrain was directly outside and the sound insulation was so good that you heard nothing as the train zipped by. Reception was on 2/F as there was a tailor shop at ground level, and that's where the lift was. No walk of shame at the Parkway! It's closed now, and so is the Miami Hotel on Soi 13, which was built in the 1960s as an R&R hotel for US troops in Viet Nam. All those hotels had names after US states/cities: the Reno, the Florida, etc. I doubt any will survive COVID--perhaps the Nana will, but this is high-value real estate and there may be more changes before anyone outside Thailand can visit again. We need to be realistic, and flexible. The sex industry is ~95% Thai, and will of course survive. I hope on-the-ground bros like Bonesrat, tunaboi, igbill1997 and arikop will continue to keep us in the loop (I know I got some usernames wrong, you guys know who you are).
