The moves come after the pace of inoculations have been ramped up to major population and economic centres, with as many as 1 million doses administered daily in the past week.

This is what happened to the much-ballyhooed Phuket Sandbox and Samui Plus schemes. The reality? As of now much inter-provincial travel from the "dark red zones" (i.e. Bangkok & Pattaya) is difficult or impossible. Thais cannot travel freely within their own country.

So far there has been ZERO actual discussion of ASQ. They will reduce it to seven days...let's not forget they already did that earlier this year. Then they jacked it back it to 14 (actually 15) days.

My strong advice: get vaxxed, and make tentative plans if you want. Do NOT purchase any nonrefundable air/hotel tickets until you hear from sources who've actually been here and described the process. You can come anytime you want, as long as you prepay 15 days at an approved ASQ hotel. I did it, and others have. But as of this writing that is the deal. Phuket may allow you to roam the island, but I don't know about that.

I have booked some accomadation in Phuket for Jan ( No payment required so far and can cancel 30 days prior without charge )

Now I just have to wait and see if flights start operating between Aust-Phuket and what the rules will be regarding quarantine when we come back into Aust.

Returning from quarantine is of course a factor. Good on ya, Austin.

Right now it seems that ASQ has been cut to 7 days nationwide. But as someone I know put it, the powers-that-be think visiting Thailand is a privilege that people covet. There's too much navel-gazing here, and not enough understanding that tourists seeking a holiday will choose a place without undue proscriptions on entry.

No one can confidently predict what will be in place in January--let's review in December.

Bangkok extended curfew by an hour and there's a buzz in the air.

I had a friend of a friend situation a month or so ago looking for help from the Thai consulate.  The government changed to type of COVID test prior to boarding and he ended missing his flight.  I put him in touch with the local Thai consulate representative (another friend of a friend situation).  It was explained to me that the Thai government situation is fluid and there is not much the diplomatic office can do other than inform people going to Thailand of the rules as they change.  The consulates do not get advanced notice and just roll out information as they get it.

Basically, like the rest of the world, expect the rules to change depending on how things unfold.

NEP planning to reopen. From what I've heard. The date is November 1.

Will be going to Thailand in Nov if things plan out. As of now I am going to fly into Phuket and do the sandbox program for 7 days, after that I am going to BKK. If things are opens on Nov 1st, then I will stay in Phuket for 5 days and head to BKK.

Will post updates and info.

Flights have come available online from Sydney this weekend, starting from Nov 1. Looking good for Xmas/New Years

From what I heard NEP was always planning on 1 Nov.

Few bars in SC was hopeful for 15 Oct. But as far as I know only one bar had the balls to open. Five Star Bar. They opened Oct 9.

Made to Phuket on "test and go" instead of sand box. Quite extensive checking for records just get on the airplane. I have no doubt that people having the fake records can get caught, not 100% but very high probability.  From airport to hotel was pretty streamline. So far, 3 people at hotel have told me about the importances of bring WG to room must have ID and vaccine card. Lol. So far looks good with bars starting to open up.

Night entertainment venues nationwide remain shut until at least mid-January, according to the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

CCSA spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin said the CCSA meeting chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha decided to defer by another month a plan to allow pubs, bars and karaokes to reopen on Dec 1.

The new tentative reopening date was set for Jan 16 and only for some areas, depending on the Covid-19 situation

Not as much as before, but there is some play.

What I have found in Phuket that beer bars and they are renamed to "restaurants" and they close around 10-11 pm. However you can get invited to the behind-the-scenes party or just a continuation behind locked doors, which closes at 1 am. You'll be having drinks with the ladies and when it gets near to closing time they were asked you if you want to come to the closed area. A lot of the ladies are hustling for drinks so they are less reluctant to be barfine and some don't want barfined. I got invited to two after-parties, The Underground and the other is Suzy Wong's. No one is dancing at Suzie Wong's but it's a place where you can sit down and have drinks. See report.




Go-Go bars are not in service. The other option are happy ending massages, escort service and free lancers.
