when to pay

Tried my luck out at a walk up today. When I knocked on a door and saw the girl. Immediately, her mama came out and demanded payment first. When I said pay her after the deed, she insisted that it was common practice to pay beforehand. I read somewhere that this is foolish but cannot remember why?

Paying afterwards is the usual practice. But you will get the occasional one that will ask you to pay first. I usually take this chance to negotiate.

Pay first, lower price. Pay later, full price.

Pay first, they get money, risk no service. Pay later, keep them guessing and wanting tips, perhaps better service.

I always try to pay after, but sometimes they do request before to make sure we really have the money. But I agree with Nik.  Perhaps get better service if you wait...

The opposite can also happen too. If the girl is pissed she didn't get her way, maybe she hurries the service so she can get the money. Or she's thinking, if I give him bad service, wouldn't be so bad if he can't pay at the end.

Important thing to keep in mind is to keep her happy. That is how you'll get good service. The hard part is to convince her to be happy but have things happen your way. That's where the bargaining comes in.

If the gal asks for money up front, I'd pay it. As English says - the impoprtant thing is to keep her happy - that's the
route to good service.
