Mandarin

C'mon guys; help out a bro who can't speak any Mandarin. I know a few people who can speak some mandarin, but I can
hardly ask them how to say the following:

You're very beautiful;
You're very sexy;
I like you very much;
What's your name;
You're perfect;
I like small girls;
You feel so nice;
I want to kiss you.

Also tell me anything the girls like to hear.

ME?

My mandarin?

Shey shey nee ah = Thank you

Wor bor chi dau = i dont know

Hit or miss really and i do get along with these 2 mandarin phrases? Some PRC girls do understand cantonese but dont speak it well and respond in mandarin?

Lo goon is quite a common thing i hear when i am doing the business?. True!!!!

Frightening yes but i did pull 3 girls on separate occaasions where i cannot really converse in mandarin with them?.

Dont ask me how i pulled?. Not even WGs too and managed 2hr conversations with them!!!

Reply #2 Jake's post

You're (really) very beautiful   =      Ni (zhende) hen piaoliang   (zh's are pronounced j)
You're (really) very sexy    =   Ni (zhende) hen xinggan (xing is pronounced like shing)
I like you very much    =        Wo hen xihuan ni  (xi is pronounced shee)
What's your name    =   Ni zhao shemma mingdz
You're perfect  (literally: you're a perfect girl)  =  Ni shi yige wanmeide nuhaidz  (u in nu should be written with umlaut/diacritic mark ( ¨ )  for a rough equivalent for nu say kneeyou quickly as one syllable; the y yi is almost imperceptible; shi is pronounced like shir in shirly)
I like small girls  =   Wo xihuan gedz xiaode nuhaidz (she above for nu; xiao is pronounced sheeau as one syllable)
You feel so nice   =  ni hen shufu (literally it feels good to (context dependent) you))
that feels wonderful =  give a sensuous grunt then say 'hen shufu'
I want to kiss you   Wo xiang chin ni

Didn't give the tones because they're difficult to pronounce properly

hanyu pinyin?

next step would be to get someone to pronounce the words, record them and pass them around to be used with phones

I've used the pinyin system that is the current standard; the last of a half dozen pronunciation schemes I've had to learn since I started Mandarin. Pinyin is one of the more rational.

If all you want is a few phrases to use with the girls, don't bother trying to get the tones right. Tones aren't particularly difficult, but take a lot of practice to develop the ear. If you mistake a tone, at best you'll sound bizzare, at worst you'll pronounce the word so that it has a different meaning. The safest bet is to say the phrases as evenly as possible.

Hmmmmm... Forgive an intrusive question, but might one respectfully inquire just what is your native language. Your posts offer clues, but I can't seem to put it all together. Feel free to slap me down, PM me or just ignore me.

Please see my PM

Wouldn't it be helpful to create a Sticky Note for this topic? It's a popular question here.. we could compile a list of phrases in English / Cantonese / Mandarin (pinyin). Then at some later point if someone was feeling brave we could record some pronunciations for all the brothers.

Just some thoughts... Mr. Moderator(s) ?

Here, hand me the Talking Stick.

Gather round kids, for here's another useful phrase to take a whoring. (Catchy theme music)

When I walk into the room, after a few appreciative phrases to let her know I'm human and like what I see, I smile, lean slightly toward the girl, open my arms as for an embrace and say 'bao bao' which means 'give me a hug' . This has NEVER been refused, and is a great non-threatening way to initiate that first touch.  Be careful to utter 'bao bao' in a light, affectionate tone - for tone of voice is everything. And 'bao bao' are two very short syllables -  sorta like 'knock knock' - avoid drawing it out.

I was not going to learn Mandarin,
I steadfastly refused to do so..
Till I realised some of the wealth of the 141 Mandarin only speaking girls (Read Jess).
So now I am a humble slave of Mandarin studies....

Methinks a lot of linguist of this world started their educations because of these type of inspirations
Talk about objective learnings in the highest echelons of Academia.......

Arthur Miller, Paul Gauguin, Eric Clapton, etc have all been a party to this beak wetting sports....
