#1 Post at 3-3-2015 21:22  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Why is this forum not available in HTTPS? New to the site and loving the stories, some really great information on here! But just thinking about privacy concerns with the site not being available in HTTPS. Some of you may be aware but traffic sent to sites over HTTP like this forum is in clear text. i.e: anyone sat on your network can view what you are looking at and posting. I know that one could just use a VPN to avoid having the traffic sniffed, I personally do, however not everyone wants to get one. Any thoughts on this? Would be great for everyone's privacy. You'll notice when you're on a site that has HTTPS like google you will see a lock to the left of the URL bar, you can click the lock to see more information. I do mean a network like your Home Wi-Fi or Work Wi-Fi basically a local network. Make sure that your WiFi is protected by WPA2 and not WEP as WEP is old outdated and well just shit. Hope that helps. The extra CPU resources required for encryption aren't really a problem for any modern CPU, the additional TCP packets required in an HTTPS connection only really cause performance issues on the initial connection(maybe about 10% slower) after that it's not even noticeable.
