Language Barrier

Hey guys,
Im yet to enter the wonderful world of wgs, but I'm just wondering, how much do you guys ACTUALLY talk during sessions? I say this because my Mando is . .not very good, and my canto is also not very good. English is my native language. Like, if a girl speaks zip anglais, and a LITTLE canto, can you just get by with things like stop, slow, how much?

Also, does anyone have a picture of what the door looks like when the girl is uh unwrapping her package? I'm afraid it'll say something I won't understand.

Thanks.

There is not much to say. She knows what you come for.

But still if you can chat a little with her i think she will treat you a little better.

For me communcation is very important if I want to spend more than a ST with the girl. Otherwise it'd get boring really quickly...which is why I ususally prefer either caucasians or mandarin speaking girls.

and as kenichi said, if helps to build chemistry

The phrase you should learn in Mandarin is, "wo bu jidau" which means, "I don't understand".

This breaks down to:
  • wo = I
  • bu = not
  • jidau (pronounces almost like, gee+dow) = understand.
I after a lot of signaling you do come to an understanding, you can leave out the "bu" to say that you DO understand.

Don't worry about the doors, the "busy" sign is easy to make out in even if you just speak English.

The phrase you should learn in Mandarin is, "wo bu jidau" which means, "I don't understand".

This breaks down to:
wo = Ibu = notjidau (pronounces almost like, gee+dow) = understan ...

The correct pinyin for it is "wo3 bu4 zhi1 dao4"

1 is a steady high tone
2 is a mid-rising tone (not applicable in above example)
3 is a low falling then rising tone
4 is a falling tone
5 is a neutral tone

For someone who doesn't know standard pinyin then i guess the "zhi" should be pronounced more like "jrr" as opposed to "grr".  So "wo boo jrr dow" with tones 3-4-1-4

However, "understand" really should be "ming2 bai5".  "zhi dao" means "know" but not really "understand".  So for someone who doesn't know pinyin it's something like "wo boo ming buy" with tones 3-4-2-5

Edit: Just wanted to add that tones are of paramount importance when speaking putonghua (or any Chinese dialects for that matter) unlike western languages.

Its true that body language is the universal language.

You can simply guide the girl and tell here what you want to do.
