i think simplytheguest is referring to a bookings club.  my understanding is that they're on the pricey side, but the idea is you get a table w/ a bunch of lads and girls are brought to you, similar to karaokes but not completely the same since it's still essentially a night club.  i'm not completely sure if all the girls work at the club though.  from what one buddy told me of his experience, it can get quite brutal b/c he saw some workers at one club he'd been to literally drag some poor girl kicking and screaming over to another table from the dance floor.

the girls you find in these (booking) clubs are not wgs! they are your ordinary girls such as students,teachers doctors etc!

its almost like some sort of dating event! the waiters works as the middleman that will do all the talking on your behalf!

not sure if you are actually talking about the weather or something i'm totally missing on this, but the average high for the day this week in beijing is about 26 degrees c.  if you're talking about some kind of coded sexual temp thing, sorry, it went over my head.

in terms of the 'famous barber shops', they are all over the city, just go for a walk down side streets for a few hours, check out the local areas, see the city and you'll find them.  any shop with a barber pole and a few girls in miniskirts sitting in the front.  note however, all barbershops and salons have girls standing in front to greet you, it's not that kind.  the ones you want have no one inside getting a haircut and two or three girls just sitting there in miniskirts.  check out the other thread in q&a on beijing for more exact locations.

and finally, if you are doing the hostel scene, you will be near houhai, the drum tower area most likely.  to the east of there there are hutongs (old alleyways) that used to be full of these kind of barbershops.  not sure about now.  but again, they are all over beijing but you have to spend time walking on side streets looking.  again, check the other thread, there is one area near the Lido area, northeast of fourth ring road, where there are several.  btw, homestay chinese families may not take too kindly to you being a night owl.

i went to a booking club last night it was attrocious it was a notch below rape.

the ratio of men to women was close to fifteen to one. You go in buy a table and pay a massive tip to the waiter who drags girls around the guys who order the girls then proceed to get her as drunk as possible ie barely concious and take her to the motel next door.

it is almost identical to what i used to do years ago ie go to gay bars to get free drinks , it was very important to stop drinking after a few.

the cost is insane also image this 900 hk for a beer the table next to us spent 3000us$ and barely managed to get any girls to sit with them for longer than two minutes.

booking clubs are like a nastier seedier version of lkf i have more sucess riding around on the bus or metro in seoul and asking for phone numbers

Beijing actually turned out to be a damp squib tbh , I saw a few barbershops around the Holiday inn Lido district but the WGs were old and or ugly and or fat , O another buddy I met in Beijing was accosted by a pre op transexual WG in his hotel.. sure it was cheap a suck for 150RMB but christ my standards might be low but not THAT low!.

Well, the Holiday Inn/Lido district seems pretty far away from TM Square.  I will be staying at either the Westin, St. Regis or Grand Hyatt.  Isn't there anywhere like Neptune/LKF more centrally located to these areas or in any of the other hotel bars?
