I've just go in to HK and about to go to one of the walk ups/phone appointments first and then try a HG. Are the rates put up on the galDB normally final or is it normal to negotiate? (i don't wanna look cheap, if negotiation isn't convention but don't wanna look like a newbie whose gonno get fleeced too!)

yes normally the walkup rates advertised on the DB are final. not impossible but it is quite rare
to negotiate the advertised rate. i would say that if you are a newbie, and you are not a regular
of the WG, just pay the asking price.

in fact, some WGs may even expect a tip on top of the asking DB price. for example, if the
rate is some odd number like 430 or 450 etc, at the minimum, i think a 500 note is sufficient.
but if the rate is a round figure like 700 or 800, use your discretion on how much to tip:
was the service good? would you want to make a repeat visit etc? its up to you on how much
to tip really. you may not want to tip at all in which case, just pay the DB price.

This is a tricky one. If you check the price before you go - you don't need to ask - just fuck her and then pay the rate advertised. If you ask - she'll assume that you don't know her rate and she might add on a small amount. Best to check first to avoid being fleeced. If she's honest and quotes her advertised rate and you try to negotiate - you'll look cheap and, as you say, you don't want that. Personally, I'd say don't negotiate - if you want her, pay the asking price.

From experience, some WG have the price writtten on a piece of card / paper stuck on the wall anyway which normally is the advertised price.  I agree with what the other bros said before.  However, I can say that you can negociate if you wanted extended sessions / overnights !!

If it's just a one shot deal ... pay the advertised price.

I've seen reports by bros that negotiate as a matter of routine ... I don't.  

My own view is that any personal service is affected by the respect you show, so if you haggle you're quite likely to get a "cheaper" service also ... unless you're very charming / good looking / entertaining / etc ... I expect more than a dead fish, so I set the tone by expecting her "whole package" to be worth what she asks for it.  

You will also find some girls that demand a tip, and some that are genuinely surprised to get one.

Walk up prices are usually around $350-$500 ... if one negotiates how much do you expect to save ?

that's 10% to 25% ...do you think the girl will give you good service once her price drops ?
is saving the price of a beer worth that much to you ?

you can negotiate...but remember, if you work down the rate too low, the service may be affected...don't be too cheap, but don't get ripped off as well!

Many foreigners, certainly the English, come from a culture where haggling over a price, or negotiating, for a better word, just isn't common. I feel very uncomfortable asking for a lower price - even in street markets. I'm sure I often pay a higher price than locals but I just can't help it.

... or at least ask what the price is first.  Let's say I go to Champagne court, the girl is advertised at 500 on the DB, usually when I ask, they usually say 400-450 for some odd reason.  The ones that are NOT on the database will almost always ask for 500 here.  At the MK buildings, the 350 ones almost always drop their rates to 300 when asked and I've even had a few say 250 la when I refuse and turn around.  I guess everything is dependent on where and who.  I think I get some sort of satisfaction negotiating price, I usually end up making it up by tipping a bit higher since I am always comparing US pricing, mongering in HK is like shopping at a US 99 cent store, in HK a $10 store, it doesn't really cost much so you just pick shit up as if you weren't spending money.  When I am in China (non-Big City) places, I throw money around like nothing because 200-300rmb for a girl to spend 2 hours with you for your pleasure is absolutely sick IMHO.  And those 50rmb/100 min massages?  Don't even get me started on those.

the only place that I've really had to balls-out negotiate is at the brothels in Nevada.  That's because they charge such an outrageous price to begin with.  They think they can get away with that because no one negotiates there, but not with me.  Other than that, I go to places where I know the pricing already, so there's already an expectation on what I'm paying for.
