Then have to wait another "n" hours for reports to return; by then it's the not the same doctor who diagnosed earlier because hi/her work shift is over, and you receive different opinion (possibly go through the whole ordeal again).............. There's a limited number of doctors and nurses so when you first walk through the door a nurse nomally assesses you to see if you or high or low priority. If you are low priority expect to wait 2-3 hours I'm afraid. I'm sure if you walked through the ER complaining of central chest pain radiating down your left arm you will get seen straight away - maybe try that next time!!!

I remember in Hongcouver I was at emergency and I had a very bad cut ... I waited 90 minutes for a doctor to see me and the ER didn't have more then 5 patients ! In Minneapolis I waited almost 2 hours and finally left to see a private doc !

If the complaint is not "life threatening" you wait till someone sees you - maybe 4-5 hours. I was in Emergency in May and had to wait a few hours. Lots of students but very few doctors. Then, once I was seen by a doctor [about 4 hours], I had students coming to ask about my case, doctors with students coming and waking me up asking questions. I was moved to the Observation Area and again had doctors and students visit me. I was there from 8pm Wednesday - 6pm Thursday before being told they had no idea what was wrong with me. Sent me home with pain killers and told me to come back if I got the pain again. I saw people just give up after a few hours and go home. A bit scary and makes you wonder if medicine has improved. I suppose most countries are the same.

After a few days in hospital with nothing happening, I decided to fly to the UK to get it fixed. My brother met me and drove me to the hospital in my home town. It was Friday evening and they said they were CLOSED FOR THE WEEKEND. They sent me home and told me to come back on Monday morning. Fuck, that was a painful weekend.   Live Life With Passion

Just imagine even mongering, you get better service if you know someone or regular.
