phone shop

You can take the MRT from Luo Hu station to HUA GANG LU.  It is the electronic section of SZ and has anything you can think of regrading today's electronic devices.  There are several buildings loaded with cell phone, accessories, repair shops and used phones and anything you can think or want in the cell line.

You can not miss these places by just following the crowds.  Just ask one of the many shopkeepers where can your unlocked be done.  I am sure they can direct you to them.  I believe it would not cost more than 100 RMB to do so.

If your Mando is limited, ask your desk clerk or someone to write down what you want and you can always have someone at Hua Gang Lu help you.

The stations are Luo Hu,  Guo Mao,  Lao Jie,  Da Ju,  Ke xue Guan then HUA GANG LU.  Cost about
3 RMB to get there.

Good Luck

the name of the station is Hua Qiang Lu.

Actually, the Electronics center is now gone. To be replaced by a Lee Ka Shing building.  A sad site - I stayed at the Grand Skylight Hotel right next door, looked out the window and said to myself WTF!  nothing there anymore.

I concur.  I heard the unlocked Iphones can get virus and trojan horses more easily.  I wouldn't trust a dodgy phone shop in SZ; they may put some bad stuff on my phone.  I would rather go to those dodgy phone shops in shamshuipo or elsewhere in HK only because I can sic some authorities on them.

I recommend this place as well.  I got a phone unlocked there.

As for iPhones, you can do it yourself.  It will be the most safe this way.
