... exercise is ... necessary to lose weight, be fit and feel healthier ...

I'm not dissing excercise - I think it's great, and agree 100% it's necessary for health happiness and productivity, as well as a lot of additional benefits you haven't listed.

But this thread was focussing on weight and the question arose how to reduce weight - which is distinct from how BEST to reduce weight.

In that context I am saying is this bit is untrue:

QUOTE:
Just be lessening your calories is only the solution for the short term my friend.

Exercise is NOT necessary and no it does not come back.

I'm going to speak for myself here - I've read this in other accounts but can't be bothered to find the links:  My own weight has metastable levels that it hovers around.  This means if I reduce my weight by a little, yup, it'll pop right back up there after I stop dieting or stop exercising.  But it also means if I eat a little too much it settles back down to the metastable levels.  For me, my stable levels are at 73.5, 75.5, 77, 80, 82.5.  At any of those levels my weight is stable, but it can jump between them if pushed (i.e. eating too much, or too little).

I've lost weight with exercise.  And I've done it without, and that's the "white crow" in this particular debate.  You can lose weight, and all you need to do to lose it and keep it off, without discomfort, is to regulate your intake.

If you then go on and say ...

QUOTE:
If you want to continuously be fit, healthy and slim you need to exercise.

Totally agree.

What I want to do is ENCOURAGE anyone who is conscious about being overweight but happens to be allergic to exercise that the challenge need not be as big as it seems.  I know there are people who for a variety of reasons feel they don't have time / energy / freedom / courage / strength / etc. to exercise, but nonetheless want to lose weight and do something to improve their health and self-esteem without physical exertion.  The good news for them is yes, it is possible.  Go do it.  Fix one bad habit at a time, and do it by focussing on the most important one

I'm not saying it's the best idea.  I'm saying it is POSSIBLE.

QUOTE:
It's not my opinion, it's Gods will.

now THAT is a really funny way to win an argument in a punters' forum!!

Walking to and from work, and checking out babes is a good way to exercise without even knowing it.  It burns off a few hudred calories without doing shit.

Breakfast cereals such as Special K and Bubble Pop are made of rice, don't forget Congee.  Older asian generation away says that congee cleans the intestines.

I am 182cm tall, weighing 80.5 kg, I still think I am fat, though I used to be 96kg at the heaviest moment 2 to 3 years ago.  I only exercise I do is long walks about 20km or so every one or two weeks.

Recently I have read from websites that people shouldn't be thinking about losing weight.  Losing fat is the priority not weight.

Im 188cm, 34 waist, 160lbs. Very skinny.

And about eating right or getting more fit, I had a friend just cut out all soda's and he lost considerable weight, stuck with water and tea. Might sound boring, but gradually drink less helps instead of stopping in one go. Doesnt mean you have to not drink soda, in moderation is still fine, I know some people drink five 2Ls cokes and slowly stopped and looks a lot better.

That also doesn't sound right unless he's anorexic.

Nice, I have found my twin. When you are in HKG next time, we should punt together. Actually, for guys our height, we should be 65KGS, that would be ideal, wouldn't it?

I think a lot of bros here are lying about their waist sizes, or only skinny guys [with a few exceptions] are posting.

why would anyone of us lie aobut our waist sizes? For gods sake, we are not chicks. This is an anonymous forum anyways. Is it so unbelievable that there are dudes whose waist sizes are 28,29, or 30 inches. They just exericse as I do and keep fit.
