I don't know why Credit Points and 'status' is such a hot topic nowadays. When I came to the forum, there was one King
who pretty much ruled the forum as the only moderator, although that term wasn't even in use back then. Nobody else
was even close to being a King and it didn't seem like anybody really aspired to it. It was just never raised in any posts that
I can recall. I still remember when TrickyD7 became the first gweilo Lord and I thought that was a big pretty deal back then.
And anybody who reached 'Lord' seemed to have been around for ages and was well known and respected. But there was
never any rush to achieve any kind of 'status'.

I can't say I like the way things have changed - seems to be like a competition now to gain a higher ranking. That might
sound strange coming from a 'Forum Legend' but it was never a goal. It was just something that happened and I'm sure
the same is true for hunter and twiceAweek.

Personally not too bothered on stats etc.......

Firstly i was just a normal poster like everybody else and then invited to Mod by a senior.

From then on just as normal...Login / report if any / Moderate / Feed the forum if anything interesting / logoff...

But.....

Glad to see a few of the `Seniors (oldies really) from  06/07 still participating

Yeah, you've been around a long time bro.    I remember you were already a respected 'senior' when
I arrived as a newbie.  

I think some people just want access to the goodies.  Participation is the key to that, not just spam.

Maybe it partly my fault ... my quest to increase healthy participation ...

but as in life, competition normally brings out the best in us ... although I don't see much of it here except with trolls ...

Back in 2007 when we joined the forum, we were never eager to reach any status but to share and make frens with fellow bros. From enemy to friend and vice versa.
We coudn;t care less bout the title as long as we contribute and in return gets info from fellow bros...give and receive.

Well, we will know who are who and whether the rank reflects the bro's contribution in due course.
Nothing much we can do bout it, just the way things work in competitive world.

So...keep rolling and forum life goes on.........

I think as the forum grows and the number of members increases, people including myself feel the need to get perhaps a bit of recognition and credibility among the majority of members who do not contribute much to the forums.  

I only discovered the forum a little over 6 months ago and I'm doing ok, it's not been a mad race for me to get as high as rating in as quick a time as I can but my participation has increased as I've got to know the forums more and my mongering experience increases.  6 months ago, I had no idea where exactly the brothels were or even dare visit one fearing that they wouldn't let me see any of the girls because I was new or because I wasn't local enough.

Maybe instead of just having a ranking system based so much on karma ratings, perhaps we should promote people early who have contributed a lot good posts on the forums so in these special cases it really is a case of quality over quantity.

I consider myself one of the seniors on here - anyone who was a member before the big shut down and then had to rejoin again must be a senior (citizen)! It's been a very gradual build up and like CGE says, it's quite natural as your mongering experiences accumulate you want to and can contribute more, thus accelerating your posting rate. For me, the major addition was the discovery of Macau a little over a year ago. I seldom post reports about HK mongering nowadays because I usually save my cash for Macau visits (quality over quantity for me!) I've yet to enter the hotel reservations scene, and for my wallet's sake that may not happen too soon...

Since twice went on his drive to increase participation, there is a noticeable increase in posting, and the quality of posts as well. Yes, there is also talk about increasing status levels, but that's what twice wanted to promote - it's brought with it increased awareness of the need for good content, not just one-line worthless remarks, and that's a good thing. Progress!!

Only way to promote people early is by giving them Karma rating points by more senior bros ...

I think the reason is because of the 'Reading Access'...newbies..like myself want to read the hot and juicy reports that have the RA of 30 or more lol...

thats why people want to increase their RANK....just to read more reports..

You know I have been around since close to the beggening of the English forum – I even used to troll thru the Chinese forum looking for the occasional threads that were written English – before there even was an English forum.  But I must say for a long time I was a very occasional poster to the English forum.  I read the forum, but mostly stayed on the side lines.  Frankly it was not even clear to me there was ranking system – as I suspect the vast majority of the non participating members do not realize there is a point system or at least how it woks.  But I must say I kind of like it – once I figured it out and I finally became a member (after probably a year) – the point system kind of propelled me along.  Now I am kinda of addicted to it.  I like the point system it adds a bit to the experience.

I thought anyone who reached 3000 points would get a free fuck! No?

Exactly what I used to do pre-English forum. The ranking system motivates me.
