Going to HK in a couple weeks and China (Guongzhou) in a month or so.
I better get familiar with how everything works! Hell yeah!

I've been reading enough to get a general idea of how things work in HK and how much things cost, but I'm still at a loss when it comes to the mainland.

I keep reading about saunas and KTVs.

1. Can someone explain the difference between the two?
2. What are the rates for each and how long does each session last?
3. Can you take more than one girl back to the hotel?
4. Speaking of hotels, are you required to stay at a specific hotel?
5. Can any of you recommend a good place to go in GZ (I'll be by myself mostly).
6. Seems like everyone goes to saunas or KTVs in groups but I'll be by myself. Would this be a problem?
7. I don't speak a lick of Mandarin or Cantonese, but speak Japanese, Korean, German, and English (obviously). Can I get by with any of these languages?

I ain't a China expert, but I think I can begin to help you out a little. You need to read a hell of a lot more in China Reports though...

Saunas and KTVs
1. Saunas are where you go, pick a girl or two, then have fun in a room within the venue. KTVs are night time places for partying (drinking and singing karaoke) with girls. Nearly always done with buddies or other males.
2. Sauna sessions are typically 2 hrs. KTV sessions last the evening in the KTV room, partying. Each bro picks a girl or two or three or more to add to the pool of girls to party with, then at the end of the night, if you wish, you take one or more of the girls back to your hotel room for sex, either for one pop and she goes, or multiple pops and she stays the night.
3. Yes, you can take more than one girl. It's all illegal paid sex no matter how many girls.
4. KTVs are usually located within hotels, so usually you do stay in that hotel.
5. No idea about GZ - have only been to veggie spas there (but with happy ending!)
6. Saunas not a problem, but KTVs are much more fun with people. I don't hear of many people who go to KTVs alone, other than to pick a girl and take her out without doing the KTV thing.
7. You'll get by with English somewhat, but I reckon you'll encounter problems. Best to try to arrange to meet up with a bro or two from the forum...

If you're alone, best to stick to hotels. Won't be as cheap but if you're a newbie China can be a dangerous place.

I would prefer massage or sauna if I'm by myself. KTV as said is fun for a group. You all get partially drunk plus you get to feel out the chemistry with a whole bunch of different girls. A lot of girls are very willing not just to have paid sex but also want to hook up with "rich" by their standards clientele. Despite being prostitutes, more than quite a few would prefer not to and be a wife/concubine instead.

That said, if you're their type, they will give you theirphone, not just for sex but actual free dates (well free is a misnomer since you'll be paying for the date like a boyfriend) and sex. Does help to speak the language though.

You only get a chance for those kinds of connections at KTV.

I think before I head into China, I'll see if anyone there would want to join me on a run to the KTV. I like the idea of hanging out first much more than just going in for the deed.

Before you go mongering in GZ check the latest information on the crackdown. I think you will be coming at a bad time with the national holiday and asian games the city may be locked up tighter than a drum. I am sure you will be able to find something just a little harder than usual.

If you can hook up with one of the pro's here they will point you in the right direction

I almost always goto KTVs with friends as its really fun to have a room with 2-3 girls each and just drink/smoke in the room

As cunning said though, Ive never really seen anyone goto KTV alone or jsut take a girl and go.... not even sure if its allowed? Usually there is a minimum charge on the room so not sure if they would make you clear that first
