turning off the bell

hey guys, everytime i go through the forum pages the bell noise is quite annoying is there any way of permanently turning it off?

Never knew there were any sounds on this site, can't you just mute your volume in control panel or turn off your speakers?

Believe the bell notifies you that you have a PM in your mailbox.
Read them and the bell will go off

Try going to edit your profile and set the P.M. Sound field from default value #1 to None.
