Heh but thats not a good enough excuse , in that I generally got the impression it was generally more socially acceptable to visit WGs in Asia than it is say in US or Europe. That said HK girls are said to be seriously full of themselves and expect to be waited on hand and foot all the time.

Life is short very...

I agree with Prince&NPG. Quality over quantity. We want to encourage intelligent participation.

I've been quite active posting this past week because I'm here in HKG now and I have reports to write about the girls I visited. Up until now I haven't had enough to say, so I've mostly kept my mouth shut. I figured that the last thing the community needed was another backseat driver with no "street cred" jumping in and commenting on the posts of the "big boys". I find the newbie one line "great report" posts irritating, and I'm not far from newbie status myself.

There has to be a balance between encouraging new members and soliciting quality content. I try to get pictures EVERY time I'm out there, I figure if I'm not reporting back the the community, who's going to be there when I need a report. I think this is reflected in what I've written so far, in that I try to provide information that will help our members rather than Penthouse style entertainment.

I think fear is what keeps people from writing. Fear of discovery, fear of appearing stupid, fear of getting slapped down by the senior participants.

If we want to encourage more participation we all need to act in a more mentoring manor. I saw a newbie post a reply to a report the other day that said something like, "Great report, she's smoking hot. I hope she's there when I come for a visit in May...". I read this and rolled my eyes, but what I should probably have done was explained that it was unlikely that she'd stay that long and that a shorter time horizon is more practical. Maybe shared a bit of background information on visas from the PRC, or something as a better explanation. Instead I, along with everyone else, just let it drop and ignored the post.

If we're better about sharing our experience we'll end up grooming the next generation of members. I don't mind doing a bit of this, it took a long time to learn the ropes, and only benefits us to educate our new members so as to turn them into new friends.

No longer such a newbie!

You've set a great example of how to use the forum, the database, get great value for yourself, and keep the kettle boiling for everyone.

Thanks and cum back soon!!!

I believe that there should be some free access to this valuable site.

I have been a member since 2007 but still have not contributed to the reports as I have only been to HK once

Its a great site, very informative, and makes me wish i was there (or in Macau)

The lurkers are likely not in HK and have little incentive to register, unless they are going to HK soon. Thats when they register.

Speaking from personal experience as a lurker turned newbie

Making reports is the fastest way to increase reading access, but us guys not based in HK/China can post anything.  Personally, since I browse the DB often, I see some returning WGs who didn't stay around much the first time around, for example this one
thttp://www.sex141.com/en/viewid.php?uid=25701&region=11&building=-1&territory=-1&age=-1&bsize=-1&height=-1&service=-1&nationality=&stype=-1&keyword=

Just trying to contribute anyway I can, so I can see more pictures with increased reading access

First, this is the English forum and IP address is not displayed

Second, IP address doesn't give away who you are unless you have a court order to give to the service provider
or what happened to Yahoo in China ...

My point is lurkers cannot see any of the 5 reports sections so what's the point of just
reading forum affairs, polls, jokes, av sharing, Q & A and Chat ?

maybe Q & A and Chat should also be made registered members only ?

why not just make it all for registered members and leave the DB for the lurkers? as you've pointed out a bunch of times, it's free to register. the only thing we're actually accomplishing by getting them to register in the first place is a lower "barrier to entry" for them to make their first post when they DO have that urge to reply to something.

also maybe make the confirmation e-mail say something like, "no one line post like, 'great report' or 'nice pictures' will be permitted"  ;-)

Good point Gary, but take my case, I have only been to HK once........ (am planning my second trip soon) but am hooked on this site. I love reading about the girls, reports, both good and bad but am unable to contribute in that manner.

How many registered people are there on this board now?

As hunter and twiceAweek pointed out to me just one week ago. Participation doesn't require reports, just thoughtful comments and insight. Certainly you could post a reply to a good report with a story from somewhere else, i.e. something like, "Cool report! That reminds me of a time I was in..."; you know, just share some of your stories... but that's actually off the central topic here.

The issue at hand is whether to allow browsing of the Q&A and Chat sections before the "free" registration step. This shouldn't effect you at all, you registered ;-)

You'd have to ask one of the senior moderators about the stats, I don't have a clue as to the number of active users or total registered.

I'm joined with most of the other "active" members in wishing there was a way to stop new users from posting meaningless one line "great post" or "awesome pictures" messages. These are clearly there to attempt to build karma artificially.

Its just that the IP address can give away where one is surfing from.  Maybe its just my own paranoia.

Are we talking about 2 types of lurkers?
1) Lurkers who refuse to register. twiceAweek and gary have both suggested to restrict forum access even further. If its about wanting to increase membership, then restricting the forum will likely have the adverse effect of decreasing the registration numbers of new members.

2) Registered lurkers who participate little in the forum. Can't say much about this. I'm still a newbie myself. And gary's post #23 has pretty much summed it all up.

You "expose" your IP address just by surfing to the site, registering doesn't add any additional risk. Users do need to give an e-mail address, but this can be a webmail account created anonymously for exactly this purpose.

Why are you paranoid? Are you worried about surfing from work? Your spouse?, or something else?

There are many inexpensive VPN services available if you want to avoid IP adddress tracing, and coincidentally want to get around the "Great Firewall of China" when you're in the PRC (which blocks sex141.com). One of the famous ones is relakks (from Sweden). I use one of these when I'm in China, but also need it for certain hotels that just have weird internet setups.
