#1 Post at 12-12-2016 14:13  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Keeping WeChat private question Without getting a new cell phone number is there a setting in WeChat where you can hide keep private.  In other words, I want to use wechat but I only want people who I added to know I have an account.  I do not want other People like my brother or SO know I have an account.  I believe my telephone contacts can find out if I have an account By doing a search.  My cousins or SO can also see my other contacts if they are on my address book. I don't want My cousin or SO to see any of the people that  I have added and especially their webpages like in qq. Thanks

Go into 'Privacy' settings and switch off Find me by phone. You can also do this when you are setting up a new number. And people can only see other contacts they are friends with, mutual friends. So if you & I had mutual friends on wechat I can only see their comments, not people I am not friends with. I hope this helps. Plenty of people have WeChat. Unless you're planning on using "horny moto" as your alias, no one will bat an eye that you have it. My SO(at the time), knew I had some ktv hostesses on my WeChat. That when I go to China, I spend time with them. I had to, she was from China. Even if she didn't know what was going on, her friends would tell her. So I was (mostly) honest about it... these are hostesses that my friends had gotten to know, good people that could have lunch with me and whatnot until my friends were off work. #6 Post at 13-12-2016 09:35  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Not sure if that's what you want but most punting friends (I don't) have 2 different WeChat on the same iPhone.  I believe one have to be off while  the other one is on.  As I only use one account, before I go oversea for hunting, I have a list to add back all those that I "Blacklisted&Deleted".  I think having someone on your list is not risky but not remembering to lock the phone before you walk away is (assuming no one knows your password).   Cheap 2 cents

If you turn that feature off, nobody that ahs your number will know you have a wechat account unless you contact them first. #10 Post at 27-12-2016 12:58  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Buy a 100 dollar sim card at 7-11, and use that phone number to register a new account and keep that account separate and logged out until you need it.  And of course do the other privacy things as listed above. Also, a lot of modern androids have a dual boot capability, where you can boot into a hidden android OS ,which could be helpful as well.

From what I understand, with wechat, you cannot see who the other person is associated with unless you are also friends with the same person. for example, say I have two friends A and B, and A comments on my posts, B will not be able to see what A posted nor my replies to A's post. Also with wechat, you can set people in groups and whenever you post something, you can limit it to only be visible to certain groups. hope that helps.
