I just left the Beverley hotel (another manic session with Angelia - man she wipes me out!!). Anyway, I was talking to the counter lady (we're always very friendly) and I asked her if the placed was filled up with sailors.  She said "No, they can't come here!  Last nite 2 sailors came with WGs and the US Military police followed them up and dragged them out!" Man, that would suck!  Poor dudes.., finally get some shore leave and the brass releases their own cops to harras them! Maybe the MPs are under orders to make sure the women on the Carl Vinson get exclusive dibs on the men... Anyway I thought the MPs were there to prevent the guys from getting in fights with the locals or each other? Am I wrong?

Seems to me, things would go smoother for them if they didn't go out in uniform. Maybe the MP's have been told to keep them out of such places due to the reputation of the service? Mind you soldiers from all nations on foreign service across the world have keep whole economies going through their punting over the centuries!!

Under the current world affairs, any sensible commander would encourage (if not mandate) his/her men to go off the ship in civilian clothes. It isn't hard to spot them. #8 Post at 25-5-2011 09:28  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L My friend was deep sea fishing earlier this week and apparently a little behind USS Hampton was a submarine not far behind.  He took a couple of pictures of it, I thoughtthat was cool, he said it was zipping along at 20 knots.   I'm pretty sure both LKF and Wan Chai will be packed.  I'll probably avoid this two places and if I do go anywhere hit the local stuff which would be unaffected by their prescense.

I want to go in town for the United game! cannot be arsed with sailors whilst I am trying to watch the biggest game of the year! I remember last year when I had my parents over for a month and they were in town pissed (the navy not my parents lol) they were all play fighting and one kept bumping into my mam (who is 4ft tall) and my mam had had enough, turned round and slapped him right across the face!!! I shit myself, he actually went to stand over my mother so I jumped up and shoved him away. Luckily his mates took him away as he was totally wasted, apologised and bought us all a drink. Then the MP's came and apologised. 'Yes, Madam, I am drunk, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly.'

#12 Post at 25-5-2011 11:49  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Reply #10 Petay_1283's post Wow... the MP's seem to be everywhere!   At lunch yesterday a few of the sailors were yelling loudly out the window of one bar at their mates walking on the other side of the street.  Not pretty.  For the most part they are decent, well-meaning folks - but they can be boisterous when drunk and in-command of a bar (which they are when half the clients in a bar is full of them!). Mind you, I also saw plenty of sailors staggering in and out of the Velvet Curtain Bars!!  Haha --- these places havn't been this busy since..., well..., since the last time the US Navy was in town!

Lots of testosterone flowing regardless. I think this is the same carrier that just came from the middle east.  They are the ones that dumped UBL in the drink.
