I have been punting for a long time - since i was spotty faced youth and couldn't get it any where else and i found a "sauna" 3 door down from where i worked in the UK.

Whilst i was younger going all the sauna / health clubs / walkup in the Uk I very rarely bumped into punters of my own age - early 20's, they were always older middle aged late 40's 50's.

but now I'm 40 and punting in HK I find there are a lot more younger guys walking around the walk up building - often in Fuji you see groups of 4 mates (local guys) together knocking on door and one by one the group gets smaller.

What is it that there are younger guys going to walk ups - I was a spotting face youth very shy with girls an really couldn't get any - here these guy are good looking guys you would see with Gf - is it that the local girls they are dating don't up out?

Obviously the scene in wan chai bar is different mainly western guys getting there fill?

Same reason we do it brother... get what we want with less drama than having a regular gf.  Plus you meet a better class of people ..

Well I think the culture of the two different places has a lot to do with it.

Im not sure about the UK, but in Aus punting is seen as taboo and dirty.  I think Asian countries have a much less repressive view of sex, and in particualr, paying for sex.  I might be wrong of course, but thats how it appears from my perspective.

Most people my age in australia are too afraid to do it because they have been told their whole lives it is wrong, but as you get older you put things into perspective better and I think as youmature paying for sex seems like less and less of a big deal.  

My guess is that in Hong Kong its even kind of a social thing to go out with some friends and get some hookers.  Maybe someone from over there can elaborate a bit more.

when I was in my 20s, I had an attitude "pay for sex? you must be joking, only desparates who can't get it for free pay for it!".

however after I got married it became clear that the amount of work necessary to have fun on the side for free was both time wasting and dangerous in terms of risking getting caught. The simplicity of P4P was the obvious solution. That's how it was for me.

I'm in my 20's and I dont know why I punt.

I started quite young too, but more with massage and saunas. As a young Hong Konger myself, I will say that I do get my fair share of regular dates and quite a few girls put out. Some of the girls I date are also hotter than the WGs.

But with the WGs, sex is guaranteed (even if satisfaction is not). That's all it boils down to for the young ones. There is also no hassle with trying to break up or trying to point out it was just a one night stand or ANY regular hassle really.

I have to agree with fjackass, i started young to punt because i do have regular dates and girlfriends but there is no guaranteed sex when i want it. Also when you need to start travelling for work it feels so much better to still have sex while you work in other cities. The whole thing of "family is waiting at home" somehow never attracted me to much...

Another issue for me was P4P is typically uncomplicated. I think the attitudes of women have changed over the years and having variety in our non-mongering sex lives carries a lot more risk and effort than it used to (sexual harassment, gold diggers, hard-to-get girls, etc.). Gender roles in Western (and modern Asia like HK) have given women a lot more social rights and demands than years past. That being said, I think it causes younger, non-married men to go mongering more often despite having civvie prospects.

And of course just offering my POV...as usual - LOL!

But you Western and Western-world brought-up guys tend to over-analyze things - especially this topic.

How many of you Westerners/western brought up guys look to your family for ALL your happiness? Oh really?? The family SHOULD Be the only source of happiness???!!! Third Stage - a bit of success - which he now needs to sort of flaunt to validate him in front of this peers as well as in his own eyes - especially since the SO is now just a happy old bag that he's still taking care of financially and emotionally. She happy, he happy.

Then...if he's lucky..Big success - and all the trappings that power and money brings ...including the trophy mistress (part or full time) that is just expected around here.

And BTW - nothing "Sad" or "pathetic" about old/older mongers - they've succeeded in life, they can afford it and let me assure you, they still very much enjoy SEX as much as young bucks! In fact more - as P4P is NO LONGER a guilt ridden (am I spending too much vs providing for the family) worrying (at being caught etc) and expensive (relative to their now net worth) ride, PLUS nowadays, there is Vit. Agree there is no age for mongering! You can be old, young, middle age, who cares as long as the pleasure is there.

The only reason why we, westerners, are so afraid of it is because it doesnt really exist where we come from. Im from France, there is no real mongering place there, just the ladyboys near Paris (no thanks not my cup of tea) and some old whore wh must have worked when France was still occupied by germany. In this context, mongering is taboo because a) they are freaking ugly so you must be freaking desperate to punt b) there are too little places to do it (would you pull your pants down in a forest to get a cbj and risk a police inspection?). Appart from some countries (and even there it remains widely tolerated), no sin or guilt attached. As Seaj says, this is how it works here, leave your gwailo guilt at the customs and have fun. I have a few Japanese friends who have echoed the sentiment mentioned here several times that the WG can be a stress relief mentally as well as physically.
