In such a situation, instead of avoiding the emotional attachment, it would be better to recognise and accept the reality of the situation and set a bottomline. The bottomline is in terms of both emotions and finances. Spend only what you can afford to lose and always be prepared to let it go when the time comes.

A person without any emotion is not any better than a robot. To me, it is not wrong to feel something special for a WL.
