Is there some confusion as to what a condom is for?  A condom does more than just prevent pregnancies, it's obviously to reduce the risk of HIV transmittal between partners.   The bottom line is that a condom reduces the risks, but it doesn't prevent anything.  You can still very well contract something.

Anyway, it seemed so low as to be something worth Googling, and bingo-bango-bongo if he wasn't in the ballpark: the public health department lists HIV/AIDS cases cumulatively in HK as being just 5,000.  And this in a city of 7mm!
