Fakes beers sold in pubs and KTV in China

I went across some saying Police last months has destroyed thousands of bottle of fake beer in Chongqing.

To summarize, the guys were collecting empty bottles of Budweiser, Carlsberg and others beers, to fill them with local beer. Those beers were mostly sold in pubs and KTV.

So be careful ! I guess to be safe, it's better to order directly local beers

Evrything can be fake.
The beer, whisky, cigarettes, food, all can be counterfeit.
Even the toilet paper in the KTV are fake. Wrapper says Kleenex, but feels like sandpaper.
After u wipe your shit with the toilet paper, they will probably take it to fake it as tea leaves and serve in dim sum eateries.

China is full of fake stuff.
Just be mentally prepared.

Most important, always buy your cigarettes from a reputable source. (this does not include China DFS)

That;s very common, no biggie, especially those smaller Karaoke.
I have a friend (supplier) of fake Qingdao beers.
Taste the same, packaging the same.
He even asked me to open the network in Shenzhen.

You cannot imagine how cheap is the cost and how much the KAraoke (usually via managers who want to get a cut) is paying.

When customers get high, they would not notice and care whether the beer is fake or real. They only want volume and half drunk.

Agreed, the alcohol content in the booze they serve in KTVs is very very low. This makes u order more and more since u just dont get drunk, just end up with a huge uncomfortable belly!

do you remember a few years ago in China a guy was caught making fake Ferraris... not toys, a whole car LOL. Amazing! I bought a tin of Henry Winterman Cigars at Dong Guan train station years ago, it suddenly occurred to me that may be fake when I could hear the wood crackling as I drew back... YUK!

i've heard stories of people getting sick from fake hard liquor mixed in their drinks. not sure about all the details but just for precaution's sake, i'd recommend getting reputable tsingtao. its a decent taste and not expensive. better safe then sorry.

I read about a guy who poured some supposedly high quality brandy into a paper cup and it dissolved the wax!

Maybe he was drinking some "Moutai", strong Chinese liquor in an ugly white plastic bottle... It has a taste of industrial solvent, it does dissolve the bottom of paper cups, I have seen that as well.
