Call for MORE fictional writing

One of the great things about this forum is that there's a place for everyone.

It's not just about HGs and walkups - you get international reports, saunas, kinks, fetishes, fantasies, girlfriends, etc. etc.  Heck, one of the more controversial threads started recently is the gay thread - but there's even a place for guys, in spite of some minimal homophobic response!

So: why not fiction?

Truth is there is a LOT of entertaining fiction out there.  Actually I'd be hard put to figure whether there's more fiction being published than news and factual reports - true in the "civvie" world - true in sex publishing also.

Point I'm making is that writing fiction is not of itself bad.  As long as it's clear what's real-life and what's invented, there's a HUGE and highly receptive market for writing.  There's a LOT of great creative writing out there, erotic, entertaining, inspiring, even educational.  Long before discovering this site, I've often found and read up a lot of stories being posted elsewhere - stories that were clearly inventions, but great to read.  That fact alone suggests there's probably a lot more fictional material being published than factual.

But on this site, aside from the jokes section there's very little fiction.  It's 99% a contacts-news-and-reference site - and that is of course its greatest strength.  But it doesn't have to be that way, and maybe there's a sector here we're missing out on.

What do you think?

Should we encourage more participation from bros who enjoy making up entertaining stories?  How can we support them to contribute, without degrading the reference value of the forum?

literotica.com has a vast library of free online porn stories of every shade and colour, if you are interested... though you probably already knew that, right?

I don't see anything significantly wrong with having a section for erotica. I don't think I'd bother to visit a section like that very often myself, and I can't imagine it would be a particularly popular section compared to the reports, Q/A and chat, but hey, who knows?

If there’s a consensus in favour of a fiction section, I will ask the Admin to start a new section

I see no problems with a fiction section, but the most important point, as DA has already stated, is to make sure people know what it is they're reading. On a site like this where truth is of the utmost importance, this is especially crucial. Therefore, a fiction section would indeed be useful, since you'd know immediately that anything posted there has come from creative minds.

since the purpose of this forum is "informational sharing" i think it defeats the purpose of having a fiction section.

Information = facts = non fiction.

So doesnt it undermine the real purpose of this forum? which is to share REAL expeiriences for bros so they are better informed?

Ofcourse i dont mind either way...just make sure its seperate and distinct

You're absolutely right, and that's exactly the debate I'm interested in.

I came to the realisation while reflecting on the situation where some (a very few) bros try to write fictional reports and pass them off as real (see Q&A).

Obviously, that's bad ...

But actually if you look at it, it's only bad if there's an attempt to deceive.  If it's clear what's reporting, and what's creative, creative writing has a LOT of value.

Fantasies
Educational stories
Entertainment
Just plain-vanilla erotica
etc.

Heck, a fiction section could even be used by some bros to share real stories that would be too sensitive or close-to-home as a live report.

I'm sure we could come up with a long list of non-factual writing that would be very valuable to the Forum.  As long as it's presented as such.  I for one have most definitely broadened my mind reading material that was very clearly not factual.

Speaking for myself, I prefer writing real stories and facts, I'm not comfortable in the role of novelist - at least not at this time.  But since the question hasn't been asked, I'm interested if there are any bros out there who DO like writing fiction.
In a community the size of the readership here, I'll take any bet anyone throws at me that there are several excellent writers in the community, writers who are probably posting their stuff on different forums right now - but not here.

So this thread is to find out, is anyone reading this who'd like to contribute?

if consensus no problem but it's a no vote from me ...... not because I object per se, but I personnally wouldn't bother reading a fiction section ... too much going on already!

I'm with Froddo, I can't really be bothered with fictional literature. Plenty of Chinese sites have them. It's just too much.

Just as froddo says, it's not my cup of tea to be honest as I'd rather stick with the real stuff.  But, not everyone shares the same tastes.
