There's actually something worse than battery life with the Apple family of iPhones.  With battery life, there is a lot of products coming that can that give you a portable battery pack to charge your ...

Yes i've read the prob is particularly worse in Singapore (supposedly most humid place on earth).. but with the water sensor it is mainly for Apple to detect if the phone has been dropped into water (eg pool) and has received water damage... this is because their warranty does not cover water damage (didnt use to.. but i've heard someone said u can pay $250 to replace a water damaged iPhone now)..not because it will break... anyhow there's 2 sensors for that (1 inside the headphone jack and 1 inside the power jack)... i dont think its likely to get both sensors wet even if you are jogging (in which case u will have the headphones in the jack) or from sweaty palms (still the headphone jack should be fine)

Doesn't really matter if you buy the 3GS or even the next generation one, like women a younger, better model comes out every year.

I agree.  I heard the 4th generation is already produced.  Just waiting to be released.  I still have my iPhone 2G and it works quite well.  Missing the GPS functionality but is it really worth spending all that money for a new iPhone.  Before only Nokia dared to enter the territory of $700 US Dollars for mobile phones.  Now that Apple has matched that price range, all the phone makers like Blackberry, Palm, Samsung, and whoever else are all making phones above $500 US Dollars.  I think it would not be difficult to imagine mobile phones of the near future becoming devices that are solely used more for the internet and business person than as a talking device.

Agree with you that the iPhone battery sucks. Only the first generation iphone did the battery lasted a couple of days but this only used the 2G network.

With the 3GS version, my battery can die without 3 hours of heavy use. Decided to get the Momax battery extenders to get more juice when I'm on the road. The battery cost only $230 in Mongkok. Still testing the battery extender but so far so good. Manage to last more than a day of heavy use before having to reach the wall socket or computer.

Another very interesting point I want to make about the battery.  Thought of it when it was mentioned that it only last about 3 hours with heavy use.  I remember reading that if the phone becomes really hot, when you touch it, stop using it and let it cool down.  If you overheat it, the battery life will be reduced to half in the future.  So if you see it drained in 3 hours, you may be playing a processor intensive game that really heats up the phone.  Be very cautious of having it become too hot.
