i always make the point of waiting for a few months before making that buying decision. waiting to hear about hiccups such as the browning due to overheating or the last few days people have been reporting wifi dropouts on the 3.0 software.
good thing i waited before upgrading mine to the new OS.

i actually would like to own the 3GS, the video recording is quite an addition, its a good way to keep in touch with close friends or family, quickly take a small video clip and upload for all your friends or family to see what you are currently doing.

Haven't tried the iphone in person, but really don't fancy it - I've stuck with my N95 now for a couple of years, and it's the first phone to break me out of my "upgraditis" I get every time my contract comes to renewal! The camera on it is superb, as is the movie recording, which is a big selling point for me.

Yeah I heard to get the Black 3GS because the white ones will discolor due to heat.  In other words, both put out the heat but the white one will discolor.

Finally, got the 3GS
It works so fine.... Speed is definately there. Tried loading the pages of 141, definately improved from 3G's slow responce.
So far the only down thing is the head phones that came with it. Standard stero headset as opposed to the in-ear headphones with remote and mic. Guess they are going to make another fortune with this feature. So I'm sticking to my Shure headset which is so good.

Overheating problem. I don't seem to experience this at all, except for the GPS usage with the Maps app. Guess its usage from both features thats heating it up.
Who's going to be using this fearure once you get to know HK so well.

Best if you reserve a copy from either Apple Store or Three. According to online sources, if you order via the apple store online, there expected date of delivery is the 20th of July.

I hear that there is a very very short supply of 3GS, as EVERYONE is wanting one.
Originally, I opted to wait for the 4th Gen. However, the phone shop I know knew that i was into gadgets and, they called me when they had one in hand. COULD NOT HOLD BACK and so got it and traded the 3G in at the same time. I got HK$3100 for my old phone.

Bros, Remember to wipe your phone via MobileMe's find my phone section. Otherwise you'll be stuck with an offline phone until they at MobileMe have this problem sorted.

iphone radiation

I've read the iPhone and most comparable phones have the highest radiation levels of any on the market. The lowest level phone  around these days is circa 0.3, and prior to the iPhone levels of 0.8+ were thought of as too high. 3G iPhones were 1.36, and the new 3Gs is down to 0.79  source: http://www.cnet.com/

Bit of a worry, especially if you carry these in your front pocket near your treasured jewels, or you spend a lot of time listening to music ... most phones use the wire to the ear pieces as an extension of the aerial which channels the radiation even closer to your brain.

The early adopters always pay more and take some risks on QA. I thought it was quite tragic to see those queues of people camping out all night in the USA to be the first to buy the original iPhone, like little kids at Christmas and their toys.

Anyway, I think I will get the 3Gs 32GB .... time to throw out the old phone, 2 years and it sure shows its age.

tonkachi, They run on a global standard of:

UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz) for data
GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) for communication

Basically, everything is covered

Is hong kong still the only market where apple sales LEGIT unlocked iphones?  If that's true I can see a lot of demand from the international markets for it in HK.

Sorry, dude, but plenty of VCRs still available, both new and used. Try Apliu Street in SSP. I just bought a brand-new Sharp to transfer some old tapes.

Seems we still have a market for vcrs

I got rid of my vcrs for DVD HD recorders, much more convenient.

Just a little comment.
As I did get an additional phone which happens to be the HTC Magic. However, there are lots of freeware there but most of them will not be required.
Photos are a pain in getting used to if you've experienced the 3G's smooth operation with finger swipe.
As well as that, its way too slow in responding compared to the iPhone 3G. After a week, I traded it in without looking back.
Sync were also a pain. It keeps on not able to establish a connection with the PC.

Now that I have the 3GS, I really want you to reconsider. The choice is yours.

Thanks bro - was seriously considering a Magic - good to know the iPhone is faster.

BTW was there anything at all that you liked on the Magic, that it did better?
