Any Fisherman/woman here?

I'm from overseas and everytime i catch the airport express, i see ppl fishing from the shore.

I would like to know how to access these shoreline by public transport because it looks so desolete to me. Also, what are the popular catches? I see a lot of squid catches in tackle store in HK. I love catching squid myself back here. Perfect eating and perfect bait.

I sometimes see fish that is similar which we call Bream, do people use soft plastics lures?

If i come next time, would you be so kind to take me fishin? haha

You should try Sai Kung, they have several options for fishing incl squid fishing - even deepsea fishing
Not sure how to get to those remote places as you mention , would like to know myself

The fishing around the airport (Tung Chung area), is mostly with small fish or prawn bait. catches are of small estuary fish like bream (though I have seen one catch of about 40cm long) and trevally. I have not seen anyone fishing with soft plastic lures there, or anywhere else in HK but see no reason why they wouldn't work. it seems that the cathes are bigger/better in the sai kung area, where there are more reef fish available also.

what i meant is i saw a lot of 'photos' of squid catches in tackle shops. but i don't  know where and they won't reveal it.

also, the shops i frequent are triton tackle at jordan and wan chai. also the shimano dealer on parkes st jordan.

i see photos of bream catches too. i'd definitely give soft plastics a go because back in Oz we have great success on them. Only problem for me is don't know how to get there.

i think there's a tiny shop near fenwick's pier that offers deep sea fishing, or at least fishing of some sort. looks more like a shack, across the road from the entrance sailors use when they commandeer the place. i just noticed pictures of guys going out on boats and remember overhearing at a bar some guy describing a similar thing and how he had a great weekend fishing.
for me, if i had a weekend to go fishing i'd go fishing at fuji, the r hotel, the e hotel... you get the idea

Huge numbers of squid in Clearwater Bay area - basically south of Sai Kung.

Go along the road on a spring night the whole sea is a blaze of lights from a carpet of squid-fishing boats.  I heard you can take a tourist ride on them, but never checked it out.

I've always wondered whether the fish that come from the waters immediately surrounding HK are safe to eat. I know long-time HK residents who won't, cautioning about the huge quantities of toxic waste that come down from the Mainland.

i stay in hotel so no chance of cooking fish. but i like fishing for fun anyways.

especially catching squid...i love that feeling when a squid jumps on. i know they don't fight hard like a trevally. but its like two whips of the rod and then whack! the jig slammed by the squid
