FAKE pix
Thanks, fairguy, for highlighting these particular entries. If there's a particular agent whose sole approach is bait & switch (B&S), then it's good practice to let that be known. I'm assuming these are all from the same agent? Let us know, thx.
Running a stable of HGs isn't easy: hotel rooms are scarce in HK, and yr overhead is constant. If one gal gets constant calls, and yr still handling 4-5, of course you're going to say "yes" to any booking and simply present whoever's available--who will hide behind the door as the punter enters, then say "OK?" Sometimes the B&S gal will turn out to be great, it's happened!
But they won't look like this :

It really doesn't matter if this is a Photoshop of an actual HG or not--it's been so tweaked that it looks more like a cartoon character than a human. Why is that? Blame it on Japanese anime—where all character have eyes the size of dinner-plates with shrunken noses and mouths. It's "kawaii " ("cute") and anime-characters have been used in ads for Japanese 141-services since at least the 1990s. of course, the character looks nothing like a real person. Then again, does this ?

Japanese popular-culture has informed Hong Kong pop culture, not only in terms of cartoon-cats and mobile phone cases, but in the 141-baitin' universe (albeit the pornus varietus often feature pie-eyed aliens with milky-white hooters like trashcans). Korean WGs are proudly advertised as such from Los Angeles to Singapore, but when they get to Hong Kong, their agent tells them they're now called "Miko" or "Sora"...why can't they be Korean? The answer becomes clear when the agent shows the KG a Japanese porn video: "just make these kind of noises, 'Miko,' and say 'SUGOI !!' every 20 seconds." Or whatever.
We know the DB fotos are 'Shopped, but with some gals, even with facial features pixilated, you get an idea of what the lady looks like. It's unfortunate that Southeast Asian dames with lovely silky caramel skin get the "Photoshop glow-filter" treatment, but at least you have an idea of what you might expect.
It's reasonable for the DB photos to deliver a realistic concept to the punter. Actual photos are of course the best source of information, and some of the pix taken by punters (who are often skilled photographers themselves) are far better than the DB pix. Some will take a series of photos and capture the lady's spirit and personality. Of course, it's up to her whether she wants her pix posted on the Net, but some in the biz are well aware that their attractiveness is tarnished by the DB pix, and enjoy posing for fotos that show their real beauty and will increase their business.
It's not an exact science, but here's yet another foto from the series fairguy listed, and again, do you really expect this to be lurking behind a hotel-room door? What does your common sense tell you?

In the moment, it's your call, but if the HG is clearly not the one advertised, or doesn't appeal to you, when she says "OK?" it's up to you to diplomatically indicate it's NOT OK, phone the agent back and ask for a change. You may have to wait. You may be offered another B&S. It may suit, it may not suit. The "floating world" is forever in motion.
I agree with the original poster: obviously fake fotos like these may be mutations of amateur models who've never been to Hong Kong, and that's simply false advertising.
