How do you get conversation with someone who doesn't speak your language?

For example, I speak cantonese and english, but some of the girls only speak mandarin... a session with no talking is kinda... boring... how do you guys do that?

there are more and more girls from china by the day. i'd say hit the books and start learning mandarin. It's going to replace english some day in the future so might as well learn it now. If you know cantonese, it definitely helps with vocab and sentence structure. I believe cantonese has 6 tones, mandarin has 4..so that's alot easier already.

I guess you haven't lived in HK long enough.

If you listen to Mandarin long enough, many terms have similar sounds to Cantonese. In fact many people, including married couples, actually only use their native dialects in conversation because both sides can understand the other. If each side actually tried to speak the other person's dialect it would sound so ugly and unintelligble that it would be better for each to speak only their native dialect. Of course being native Chinese, they could always write to each other to explain terms that don''t sound the same.

to learn chinese, you need a chinese girlfriend.

there's really no better way to learn.

If you are looking for a Chinese girlfriend, then they can used as motivation to learn the language.

So true! I have been with Brazilian WGs when I did not speak any Portuguese and they did not speak any English, no problem. The same story with Chinese girls, some Thai girls, etc... It never bothered me. When you are with a lovely girl, there is really no need to talk.  

Don't get me wrong, I still prefer if I can converse with them. It makes the experience better.

Agree with you dude....sex is an universal language, just like when people say that music is an universal language...

I mean most of the things you need to do while having sex can be done physically...or with some sign language or just by demonstration. So speaking local lingo may not be necessary...

I will say that google translate (or whatever the preeminent app on the
iphone for direct speak translation... i don't have a smartphone) for mandarin is nothing short of
miraculous.

My new favorite app for translation is SayHi.  It costs 99 cents and is iPhone only so far.  It has about 33 languages including Cantonese and Mandarin.  You choose your two languages and then just talk into it and it speaks in the other language.

It's also a fun ice breaker because the girls all love to play with it, trying Japanese, Korean, British English, Australian English...

Actually not knowing how to speak their language is kind of hot, I am sure most men would love to have sex with a foreigner.

Body language should do the trick!

In begin ask price only body language needed.

During sex no need to talk.

Only after sex when you both rest you need to talk to break the silence.

I made several efforts at learning cantonese and found it more difficult than mandarin. This may have been a difference between the teachers though.

From my experience having a native speaker (a girlfriend or even just a friend who is willing to tutor you) is the fastest way to learning a language. That and trying to speak the language at every possible opportunity. Just be careful you don't confuse words you'd use during mongering when you visit a mcdonalds

One thing to consider, in HK many of the agents inform the girls to charge foreigners at a different rate.  So there is the normal rate and the foreigner rate.  For this, if you are Asian, the best thing to do is to learn how to say, "How much?".  => Duo shao qien?  
Oh and you need to learn how to count to 1k as well to understand their response!  ;)

I've even seen some of the rooms with signs stating alternative prices, one i remember vividly at Cornet Court in NP...  Also, one of the WGs i went out with a few times also told me about this.  

I've actually made efforts to learn the language to help me with my hobby.  Not necessarily for 141 but more for KTV.  I've also been with a few Chinese girlfriends that have helped me to learn the language.  Unfortunately, i still can't speak well but some sessions, i can get by fully in Mandarin because of lack of interest and not wanting to know more about them than their name and where they come from.  

But for the ones that are interesting and you do want to get to know better, yes it has happened to me a few times, do as priapus said above, use your iphone or any other smart phone and load up Google Translator to express yourself.  Its allowed me to get close to a few 141 girls, massage girls and many KTV girls here in HK and in China.

It all starts with a good smile.  As some of the other Brothers suggested invest a little in a smart phone app and bring a short cheat sheet.

Easy, if the girl also has an interest in you, then it can go well over 45 minutes.  
(unless it is in thai ally where the papasan is timing the visits...)

If I cannot talk with the girl it is hard to ask what I can do or what I cannot do. And I cannot ask her to do something what I want her to do ;)
